    Smart Parts on/off rebuild?

I have an old Smart Parts on/off & rail combo but the on/off leaks when you turn the air on. Given how old this thing is I figure it just needs to rebuilt. Does anyone know how to do this? I don’t have the slightest clue how to disassemble this thing or even what size orings I need. Also does anyone know what size screws I need for the rail? Somehow I lost those when I took it back off the gun.

Thanks! Now I just need to borrow pliers and find the rail screws lol.

All 2 hole direct mount (which is what that is) screws across paintball will be 10-32 thread. The length and head type will change depending on your application but 10-32 for attaching anything to a bottom line setup

For your setup there, you'll have to loosen the two screws on the side which will allow the ASA to come off of the rail, then attach the rail to whatever marker you want (use lock tight!) then slide the ASA back onto the rail and tighten the side screws again. Use lock tight!

If you don't use lock tight you will only find your ASA is loose in the middle of a game which is the the worst time to figure that out. Ask me how I know

That’s great info! I also have an old school Function / Warped Sportz on/off I need screws for so that’s a tremendous help. Thank you!

Trbo323 Do you happen to know the head size or type for a check-it uni mount or the OG Function / Warped Sportz push button on/off?

No. No idea what came with them but it doesn't really matter, you don't have to use the same exact hardware

My apologies if you already know this @ThatDude812 , before you go through the effort of rebuilding this thing, this on/off is unlike most every on/off released in the same time frame, and ever since. It only cuts the airflow to the gun, it does not actually control the pin valve on the tank. Another feature it's lacking is a de-gas function. This on/off was meant to be used with a continuously connected tank (i.e. you fill the tank with the gun connected, you clean the bolt with the tank connected, etc). In order to properly remove the tank (without galling the threads), you have to back the tank out just a few turns (maybe 1-2 depending on your particular valve), fire a few shots until the gun doesn't cycle, then remove the tank. Otherwise, this ASA will destroy aluminum tank threads and steel threads will destroy the ASA threads.

Hybrid had the same one as well. I snagged one at a swap meet without realizing this. I was planning to use it as a reg tester but that idea went out the window as soon as I looked in the back and realized what was going on

Yes absolutely one of the worst asa the era. The rail/drops are decent though.

Unfortunately though it’s hard to find on/off asa’s these days. CP still makes some but for some reason I just don’t like their direct mount on/off. If you happen to know where I can find some or have some for sale please let me know!

The direct mount is rather bulky in my opinion, what about doing a rail and one of the mini on/offs?

I’ll probably pick one of those up! Last time I check their website they only had the direct mount ASA & direct mount on/off listed. That was a few years ago though lol.

Cp never seemed to have all their products listed on their own page

You could also be cool like me and rock one of their drop forwards

I don't know your price range but, you should check out the Inception Designs EZ ASA and rail combo.

Any idea what size c-clip pliers I’ll need or is there only 1 size?

I was just gonna order a cheap one off Amazon or eBay. But I don’t see anything about sizes. Looks like there is only one size. Is that right? I don’t want to order one and wind up getting the wrong one.
