I was in a similar boat. I bought an LV2 last year because i was always tired of last minute trying to get guns to work and them failing on me because for awhile there i was terrible at keeping up with my paintball stuff (got married and had kids so that all got pushed to the back burner). I just wanted something reliable. Well i've used my LV2 twice and yes it's a phenomenal gun and i really enjoy playing with it. But since i've joined MCB this year i have been hyped on paintball since that i am actually fixing guns and can't wait to use all my 20 some year old guns again. I'm excited to get back to being that guy that shows up with a bunch of guns for me and my buddies to use. My buddies are excited because the LV2 is not going to be thebone i choose when i have working angels, macdev cyborg, autocockers, and ions. That and ya'll making me want to get into mech and pumps. Heck, i just bought a PGP as old as me and i can't wait to get it running. My point is, if you already have reliable guns then get what you want to play with. If you're worried about reliability or just simply want to see what modern paintball guns have to offer then yea, modern guns are pretty sweet. The ultra lightness of a modern gun does help with my trashed shoulders over something like a shoebox impulse with a benchmark drop

I guess I missed that it was between a modern PE gun or old school Matrix. I'd honestly do both. Get a mech PE gun like a 170R or Emek and also get an inexpensive Gen-E matrix and build it out.

Personally I would still pass on modern PE guns. I've had an LV1.5 and an M170R and both felt pretty lame. The LV had a decent shot but they have a very pronounced "drop shot" so it was hard to reach cross field. The M170R just sucked to shoot. They're so soft shooting it feels like it's just dead and has no character. Just a personal thing but I preferred almost anything over a gamma core gun for shot feel.

This is the kind of thing I'm trying to pin down.. I've got a bunch of markers that I know will work if I pull them out the gearbag and I always bring 3 or 4 markers to the field so reliability isn't a deal breaker, it's all about the feel. For an electro or spool I like a marker that shoots smooth but still let's you know it's doing something, especially on the trigger pull... doesn't need to be much, but it needs to be tactile.

ooof yea then you probably wouldn't like an LV2. the trigger is like a feather and the recoil is like mixing melted butter on the stove. It's very nice and if i started playing speedball again then obviously. But yea, i totally get what you mean. I'm more excited to run with my angel IR3's and A1 fly rasta when i get them back that i haven't used in 10 years.
