what's the deal with all the padded jerseys?

Oddly enough the material that worked the best for removing the sting was a stiff new Carhartt jacket. Good old duck canvas. The stiffer material spreads out the impact over a larger area, yet lets you feel it and doesn't seem to prevent breaks.

I would love to see a paintball shirt (not necessarily a "jersey", I ain't playing soccer out there) with duck canvas in the usually protected places. Shoulders, forearms, etc.

You just described a “Renagade” I like 12oz bull denim but it takes a bit to break in. After a few years of use they loosen up a bit.

The padded jersey I have from HK isn’t going to help someone get more bounces. It’s great for when you get overshot and you don’t want to bleed for a day. They do help with that, but not much more. I don’t get any more bounces from this are than I get from my pants which are just normal stuff from Dickies. The padding does add heat, which I do not appreciate, but they are only padded in the exact area where you get shot, upper chest, arms, shoulders, the rest is barely there stuff and breathes great.

I personally don’t want bounces, I want breaks. Bounces fuggn HURT, especially with that rubbery field paint. I’m over 50 now and what used to not even make a mark now leaves a bruise that lasts weeks. I’d like to reduce the severity of that sort of thing and if that makes me look like I’m doing it the easy way, again, I’m over 50. Nothing is as easy as it used to be.

I sometimes see magfed guys wearing these all black outfits with padding so thick they look like a baseball umpire. That stuff for sure would help with bounces but those same guys are usually on point eating paint like crazy so they’re going to get hit, hard, and are taking precautions.
