    Reusable Paintballs

Are reballs the standard? What’s the king of reusable paintballs? To be used at home for maintenance and experimenting. FPS adjustment, ROF adjustment, etc.

They are not very good for testing velocity because the mass and size is off from regular paint. ROF should be the same but velocity won’t be.

pickle ball make ones that you can shoot in the house.

Yep. I saw a 30-40 fps jump with my ebay reballs

Apparently the nylon ones are closer in FPS

I've used reballs for about 10 years. The velocity is off but only about 10fps so it's close enough to not make a difference because you are going to Chrono when you get to the field anyway

Building a catcher that is good long term has been my largest challenge. I've been using plastic buckets but they shatter after a while. Ideally I want to find a metal bucket, put it at an angle and hang some paintball netting inside to act as baffles , then cut a hole in the bottom and use PVC or tubing to let the reballs roll back to me at my work bench

    Project for another day though

I grabbed the riotballs for being cheaper. We’ll see what kind of system I can throw together. A PVC return sounds complex. What about throwing a net underneath and channel them to wherever?

Again, go to this thread to see how I (mostly) recover them. The wife was going to throw out some decorative pillows, so I'm using those instead of the cardboard and floor mat in the thread until the pillows wear out.

I mean it just depends on your space really. For me, I need something pretty compact for where I want it, right next to my work bench. The reballs will fly all of about 6 feet.

And yeah I got my reballs from a member here so they were cheap.

Get reballs and a 675 insert, if it shoots 330fps it will be around 300 with real paint.

I have a pod of Reballs, they are nice but lighter. I think they shoot about 30 fps faster, I'm pretty sure Docfire has a video testing this.

They have sales pretty often, basically a 2 for 1 deal, around every holiday. But yes, they are small so the .675 insert would be needed for a close bolt system. I still like teching with real paint but Reballs are nice to just have around if you don't have paint or just want to rip a hopper without mess indoors.

I usually just shoot them into a scrunched hoodie/clothes so they don't fly everywhere and so I won't have trouble finding them.

Reballs are perfectly fine with a few caveats. They are VERY consistent (when new on a clean/perfect insert expect +/- 2 fps at most):

            1. Buy them on black friday. Typically they are sold massively discounted or BOGO pricing
            2. They are lighter as many other posters have noted. If you shoot for 335ish to 340 that should net you around 300ish (maybe a hair spicy with heavier paint) with real paint OR gives you great headroom for overbore at a 285 fps field
            3. Keep them clean and discard them once they show any damage. A tiny dimple alone in one will give you random 10-15 fps drops that will make you question your sanity. They are crazy sensitive.
            4. Use a .675 barrel/insert and KEEP IT CLEAN
            5. Store them at room temp, They shrink quite a bit when cold.

Containment is something I am working on as well. I have been using one of these "reball ranges" https://www.sureshots.us/reball-targ...142_164_143_30 but have totally destroyed it (these are NOT designed for reball at that velocity)

Thanks everyone. I was impatient and grabbed an order of riotballs last night. If they aren't what I was looking for, I'll reach out here or wait until a sale for the reballs.

For the speed thing with reballs I think it really matters what barrel you have. They are super small, 675 or smaller, I use a lot of stock barrels and medium to large bore stuff. With that I've found that paint is typically 10fps faster because it's sealed better in the barrel so the weight difference doesn't matter.

I think if each barrel is sealing on the reballs and paint the same (regardless of size) then this could go the other way because of the weight difference.

Regardless they are very consistent. If you need to do any testing that requires you to shot a string, I'd recommend a sprie, they fed pretty good. Rotors will feed maybe 3 before they jam, I've tried.

Trbo323 the fastest loader I have is a rotor so I’m out of luck.
I was planning on testing with my .675/.677 so I’m interested to see how it all works out.
nak81783 thanks for the link to the other thread. It was a good read.

                  .
I'm not saying you need a fast loader, just if you want to shoot anything more than a few in a row or want to make sure there's no shoot down you'll need a hopper that can actually feed them. The rotor is not capable of feeding them at all really.

Typically I'm just loading a few into the feedneck at a time I don't even bother putting a hopper on top.

I find collecting them more trouble then it’s worth. I use two 5 gal one as a stand one with the corner of the bottom cut out. With some dirty micro fiber. I shoot leftover paint into it and it drains down in the bottom. Occasionally I spray it out with a pressure washer if it starts to get funky.

This is my home reball setup for snaps and run and gun drills. Unnecessarily large for most peopIes uses but the idea would work in a smaller size. I use the cheap eBay reballs and they shoot hot about 15FPS but it's consistent so I can tech and tune the meat and potatoes with them and finish up with some paint.
