I need to get a friend's mini running again, it was given to him broken and he doesn't know its history. It has a major leak from the regulator gauge that seems to have been over pressurized and broken. My question is, would a spare parts kit and gauge be all the parts I need to rebuild the reg or should I get a whole new reg assembly and hope nothing else is blow-out farther up the line?

Same as above. I think the GS specifically has a later gen reg that's easier to disassemble than the first minisComment

If it's leaking through the gauge, replace the gauge and go from there.
The regs were never meant to be user serviceable . Replace the gauge first and see if that fixes the problem. The rebuild kits for minis will NOT have any rings or parts for the reg because like I said, they were not intended to be serviced by the players.
I had a g2p4 mini back in the day and tried, I did get most of the way into the reg but it was not easy. I certainly couldn't find any info on what size rings were in there at the time.
If it were me, I'd replace the gauge first assuming you have one around, see if it will hold pressure. If it will give you a steady 200 psi then move on. If it won't, it might be worth getting a cheap reg off eBay first (one of the ones without the on/off for the ASA. ) to then diagnose any issues with the marker itself. If successful there then down the road you guys can replace the cheap ASA with the on/off version
I mean realistically if it were me, if the gauge didn't fix it I'd be selling the mini to go get something else. I hate the platform. Sold mine for a lot of reasons back in the day

He's going to save up for a bit and buy an Axe. He's a big dude and that GS looks comically small in his bear paw hands.
Thanks for everyones help.Comment

He's been shooting my Axe 2 and likes it, even though it's only slightly bigger. Also cost, he has a 3 month old baby and can't spare much right now. I've lent him my Axe and bought the paint the last 2 times we went out. He's had the choice of several guns each time and doesn't want to use anything besides that Axe. We'll see. I'll throw a gauge on the Mini and see if that's the only problem.Comment

Lend him something else. He is used to the axe that's why he wants it. It's the same reason why tippmann 98s were the first marker a lot of players bought. It's not because it was better, it's because that's what they used as a rental and they were familiar with it.
I'd encourage him to branch out and try other things as well that are in his budget, if he tries other things and still wants the axe then so be it but choosing the only marker you have really used is just choosing out of ignorance

Just so you know, those gauges can be a real pain to get out! They are loctited in with something far stronger than needed! Try using some heat, but honestly, just expect to totally destroy the old gauge to get it out.I can haz feedback?
If I owe you feedback, just remind me, as I sometimes forget.Comment

I've tried. He had the option of a cs3, 170r, 3m, cocker or a mag and the dude just wanted to use the axe. Maybe next i won't bring it and he'll have to try something else.Lend him something else.
