It appears if you square off the back side of the existing breech loading hole, and take that cut to centerline of the bore, there will only be about .050-.070” thickness of shoulder land remaining on the bottom half of the bore for the bolt spring. Is that .050-.070” enough to withstand the repeating forces of the bolt cycling, or will it wear/peen/bend?
I measured full spring compression at about 21 lbf, so I want to say yes, but I’m concerned about the repeat impulse of spring steel on aluminum.
