So I have a nice project body and guts. It needs a knockout finish.

As far as I know, the only ones I have seen have been very limited runs done by PbGateway. They had a Phantom and some cockers done. But one off jobs, no. There are HORROR stories of guys who tried to get it done through car parts companies, sending overseas, etc. Its a very risky and non-tolerant process. Like trying to forge swords with lava as your heat source. In almost every case the tolerances go completely off the rails and your gun might end up as a VERY expensive paperweight.
I personally love the finish. Can't ever justify the cost of the Nexus cockers that have it ($5k+), but I do love it. Getting a sick anodizing job is likely your best bet, reach out to Caustic Customs or Aesthetic Anodizing and I'm sure you could get something amazing done. -
It is funny you ask I just was looking into getting some done in a similar finish and found out the problems and price
First all the parts had to be chrome than there was a issue with timing and the minimum price was 500.00

I'd love to know more about how this process is done. Non-tolerant process would suggest to me that the coating/plating doesn't apply uniformly? Is the finish an anodize or is it a metal plating?Comment

I think forging swords in lava is better idea. Whatever lava temperature is it is SURE to make the item only destroyable in the same exact lava pit (if you simultaneously imbue it with adequate malice)

Do you remember the $10k Phantom? Just to give you an idea on price to get parts done. When I looked into it one of the few that offers the process said it would be $8k upfront and couldn’t guarantee the parts would not be scrap when he was done. Knowing this it’s not a process I would ever want done. Want the look send it out for a real nice Ano you can get 90% of the look without the scrap parts and 1/4 the price. I think caustic customs did a really nice Aurora look marker a few years ago.Comment

I remember back when ChromaFlair was about $1000 for a can of acrylic paint, typically used on high end cars. Now you can get "colorshift" at Homedepot for $25 a can, or craft stores carry similar stuff for $10 for a small bottle. Seems like the kind of thing that would wear off and look terrible after a while, then you would have the challedge of removing all the acrylics
