    Couple questions about the tipx

So I have myself a tip X paintball pistol for cheap and it’s my first mag Fed, but I want to customize it to make it a short rifle. I know MCS The website has plenty of options though they are a bit pricey seem to be solid picks.

    so here’s my questions
    - for those who run mag fed how many mags do you carry?
    - there’s a lot of mag options for the tip X Standard, tippman 12, zeta 20 and alpha 26 rounds 3d printable which do you recommend?
    - should I run this on a tank or line i’ve never played with a line before so I don’t know what exactly would do differently?
    - are there any internal upgrades I should do on the my stock tipx ? (before I do all the other things)

For what you’ll spend upgrading it, buy a used EMF100 instead.

The TiPX is hard on paint, not that efficient, and just doesn’t shoot that well.

They’re fun to dink around with, but it’ll leave you frustrated if it’s your only option in a mag fed game.

I’ve owned 3, worked on another, still have 2, and I’m currently working on custom internal parts to make them easier on paint. I’ve got a thread on it.

That stinks to hear. I’ve always wanted one to have but sounds like a minor headache.

MCS has a conversion kit if you already have an Emek or Etha 3M.

A used Emek and new MCS kit probably puts you right back into the territory of a used EMF100. The EMF should come with a barrel, the POPS ASA, a magazine, etc., so it’s probably the better deal.

I prefer to run my TiPX from a tank.

Pistols are cool. If that’s what’s going to bring you more happiness, go for it.

I have a lot of fun with mine and have enjoyed customizing it. The appeal for me is it being a pistol but I’ve considered a stock/foregrip/longer barrel before. The 12rd Tippman mags are my favorite. Have mag holsters on a vest that sit the mags upright so I can release one into my dump pouch and then slam it onto a new one. Always makes me think of a Lara Croft reload and it feels cool. 😎

I started breaking paint more often in mine but it was due to brittle detents. Keep those fresh and you should be alright most of the time.

Here’s some gameplay of me running one.

Here’s mine. Looking to get an extended Co2 knob since I only run it with 12grams.

What does an extended seal co2 knob do and I finally made up my mind to make this a primary running gun loadout

It’s just easier to get a hold of for faster changes. The stock one can be hard to grab in a game with gloves on or any amount of paint/debris on your hands. Is for me at least.

Very nice! If anything you can always change it up down the road but I’d definitely suggest going the pistol route to start.

To answer the rest of your questions…

I don’t shoot a lot of paint. I typically take about 5-6 mags, 3 12s and 3 7 rounders. Those will last me two back to back games. I do have some zetas and will grab those for games with respawns or those with more players. Pro tip, get a dump pouch and mark your mags somehow. Highlighter tape on the inside is a good bet in case one gets lost on the field.

I’ve done no internal upgrades to mine apart from just maintenance. Extended mag release, new trigger, and longer barrel for external.

Speaking of maintenance, if you haven’t dissassembled one yet, be weary of the breech that will be under tension of the spring over the valve. It will send parts flying if you aren’t careful. In other words, never disassemble this thing at a field (I’d say that for most any marker though). It’s also a clamshell design–classic Tippman–so not the most fun to take apart. You’ll get used to that though.

If you’ve never ran with 12grams, it is a challenge at first and well it will always be more challenging than constant air. The upside is that it’s a very lightweight setup and the eliminations are more satisfying.

Here’s an example of an adapted body kit for one. Already asked if he’d part it out and was a no go sadly.

Sick ok well tbh I was gonna do a whole carbine thing with a tank, but I’m honestly moving more towards maybe three 12 round mags and a holster back up and then making a carbine build with a emf100

If you’re in the US, Wal-Mart will have Crosman 12grams in various quantities. Gets cheaper with more bulk of course. Otherwise I’d look for a sporting goods store near you. Most online orders I’ve seen only make sense for very large quantities since they’re so heavy which makes shipping prohibitively expensive.

it shoots quite well, especially with the tank to steady my aim.
I feel like it's been somewhat rougher on paint than my EMF-100, but I don't use the TiPX as often and the last time I played with it I made the mistake of trying to shoot Ultra Evil through it, which was just asking for chamber breaks. One of the fun things about using Zetamags and TiPX is that you really only need one of them- you can shoot from the "up" side and reload the "down" side from 10-round tubes while it's still in the gun- you just have to bring something like a squeegee with you to retract the follower.
