replacement seal for regulator piston?

I've got a regulator piston that lost the seal on the tip of the stem. Does anyone know where to get a replacement? Or can I make my own? I can punch out discs of material. I just need to know what it's made from.

90A or 95A durometer urethane. 95A works better for higher pressures without creeping.

looks like the reg piston from a spyder as well. Wonder if its the same size.

Yeah, I've found plenty of regulator seats for sale, but no PE ones. I'm hesitant to buy something else to just see if it fits (although since they're only a few bucks, I should probably just go ahead and do that). I do have a random assortment of old regulator pistons from various tank regs that have died on me, but most of them are too small to fit in the PE piston.

If I can't find something that fits, I guess I can at least buy a whole replacement piston. They're $30, but that's still cheaper than a whole new reg.

Tell you what....does anyone else have a different kind of piston (Autococker, spyder, etc.) that they could measure for me? Look like the tip of mine is 5.3 mm in diameter. If someone else has a similar size, then maybe the regulator seats are interchangeable.

That looks a lot like the old RG-1/Equalizer piston, and the seals I made for those are approximately 4.6mm. I have a ton of those laying around, and even if the seal's a little larger in OD, I can punch more as needed.

It gets easier when somebody shows a picture measuring 4.6mm but types it out as 6.4mm.

rawbutter When I replace them on regs I usually lightly score the brass surface the seats contact with a pick or something like a dremel stone bit. Then I clean the area with alcohol, let it dry. Then I use a very small amount of flexible 2-part epoxy (such as one made for plastics) and glue the seat down with that.

Good to know. I'm gonna try it without epoxy first and see what happens. I've got a spare, so if the first one blows out I can replace it easily enough.

-No. They're supposed to be a light press fit; that is, they shouldn't fall out if you turn the piston over.

In use, air pressure, air flow and the spring pushing it against the seat, all hold it in place.

Glad to know those fit. I'll get those posted for sale shortly.
