Yeah that stainless steel work hardens over time and snaps at the thinnest part. Just one of the few things that needs a redesign for this to be the greatest Nelson of all time.

I saw a chapstick tube fired from a Tippmann punch of whole straight through sone thick glass. I wonder if a nerf dart-like tail attached to a paintball is the way to go? You can use solid foam backer rod so the air burst doesn’t rip the normally hollow dart apart. Don’t know if it comes in .68 though

I'm working on designing some myself. I just recently started shooting FSRs and wow I'm blown away! But theres no way I can pay those prices. We need an open source alternative. These look nice are they your design?

No the white ones are form like 15 years ago from scenario dreams I think they are called and the second picture I printed first strike fins and glued them on in 2 diffrent lengths

I tried sticking cotton balls to paintballs in hopes that they would fly more like blowgun darts. No success

As long as you don't shoot them at people/use them in games, you'll be fine 👍

Glued fins tend to rip off when they exit the barrel, sometimes tearing up the ball ...

Very cool. I tried something very similar several years ago. I didn't have any luck, I tried a bunch of different designs and ended up on three that worked okay, the "dart" fins worked the best, they improved distance somehow, but accuracy was noticeably worse. I didn't have a marker that would properly shoot them, I would just unscrew the barrel put it in and shoot it, so it got very annoying. Keep plugging away though, I'd be interested to see what you come up with. If you want any of my designs to work off, pm me, but yours look better to be honest.

The biggest problem with this approach is that if any of those fins actually worked (i.e. stayed attached to the projectile) they add additional to the mass of the impact. This is why the 121 rounds used .50 rounds.

Well ya just need to drop the velocity for object with slightly more mass

Snowpuff Sort of. An object with a higher sectional density will benefit in a similar way to First Strike rounds. It will retain whatever velocity it starts with, better than a paintball. Being more aerodynamic on top of this, magnifies the effect. Depending on how much lower you set the velocity, you will likely end up with a specific distance (and further) where the better flying projectile will still hit harder than the paintball at the same distance.

I regularly report to eBay the guys selling T4E spiked pellets. I like FSR, but it’s like pump. You cannot play fsr with a 18BPS marker with some wannabe tourney dropout shooting 9 pods. I’d play FSR vs FSR only, sounds like allot of fun actually. More precise communication needed.

Do people in general consider the newer (ha) style power tubes in Trracers to be more or less durable compared to the early ones? I only have had the original style and no issues.

vienna sausages do not fly well. I think it has more to do with the acceleration. They also require immediate cleaning or I suspect they will make the barrel stink.

Why not buy FSR? Every single round in a bag of those will be so much more consistent than gluing fins to round ball. They fly so good and straight, all you have to do is account for distance and they just go where you send them. And like others said, don't shoot these at people, they haven't been tested like FSR or regular round ball on lenses, and would likely get you banned from a local field. Also keep in mind, shooting any paintball at long range, most people can see them coming and have time to dodge your shots, so there's not much advantage if they know where it's coming from.

I used to like FSR for big games where they were allowed, but I dont go to those kinds of games anymore. I only keep some for outlaw or just for fun out back of the house. The accuracy is so much better, but the price of them alone is enough for me to not want to shoot more than a bag of 150 in a day.

Honestly, I just think people want to tinker to see if they can come up with anything that works well, and doesn't break the patent laws around First Strikes. First Strike has a stranglehold on the market until the end of the decade, and it's genuinely holding back the sport. Any actual company that announces they're working on an alternative has gotten lawyers shoved in their face for making the attempt, and the effort stops there. It's a shame.

I don't think people are actually going to find anything that works as well, but I do appreciate the effort.

everybody should announce they are working on alternatives and rack up first strikes lawyer bills.

3.2 grams though, I shoot my fsr rounds into a blanket to test but obviously some break. I'll have to weigh up my rounds to see if they are close, these look great though.
