Torque alone never feels like the right answer, but the epoxy can breakdown under the heat required to breakdown the loctite... though in my years of removing regs, I and everyone else was using a blowtorch to heat them up if typical torque didn't work.

Just dug up a spec sheet stating that exposure to >73deg C destroys the tank. The loctite softens at 250deg C, so...

You had me at "spec sheet" lol. I'm a sucker for documentation. I look up datasheets at work quite often, and amend manuals for our products.

The bottle and reg both look to be no worse for wear after the post-apocalyptic tool rigging, but the bottle is due for a hydro test so that'll really let us know. No big deal if it fails, though; while i'd prefer the bottle pass, i don't personally need it anymore. It'll probably get sold with a generic reg that I have laying around.

Good plan. I'd also replace the gauge and fill nipple out of an abundance of caution. It'd be difficult to tell if necking occurred on those components that could lead to failure later on.
