Pretty much always. I just grab a old mechanical gun or pump to play with. Electros just seem to scare casual players so I leave them at home.

Most of my friends who I played with years ago have quit and unfortunately all of the MCBers in Ontario are pretty spread out, so we're lucky if we can get a group together a few times per season.
I go alone every now and then to fill in the gaps. Half the time if I go alone, it's to tech.

I almost exclusively go alone. I'm newish to my area and have been busy with my 2 boys under 3 years old. I always end up making friendly with the regulars and new/rental croud anyways. I make an effort to extend open ended invites to rental players who are particularly enthused to come back and I'll loan them all the equipment they'll need to save on playing cost. I also keep a fleet of JR2's and mavericks on hand to get some impromptu pump games going. Really, I'm just looking to have fun and I find with that attitude it's hard not to find.

Yes I do.
That comes with a big disclaimer though.
I have played on a regular basis in the same neck of the woods for going on a quarter of a century. I know field owners, staff and regulars just about everywhere. I might arrive alone, but I'm never socially alone.
If you are " a good hang" you become a thread in local fabric pretty quickly.

Another thing that I have found to be enjoyable when hitting the field solo is going in "plainsclothes" and using a simple marker. I went to a local field randomly one Saturday morning in cargo shorts and a t-shirt and I shot a 98 and just mixed in with rentals and I had an absolutely blast. The youngbloods weren't intimidated cause I didn't look like a "pro" and I was just shooting a crappy rental 98 and I was able to explain some stuff and teach the kids about some paintball tech stuff and culture. Very refreshing experience.Last edited by Jonnydread; 07-18-2022, 09:53 AM.💀 PK x Ragnastock 💀

When I "came back" to the sport this year, I started doing that. I'm now the "cargo shorts" guy. I also picked up a bunch of mechanics style shirts on ebay and wear those while taking photos. They're used and still have name patches, but the company patch is torn off. Nice comfy shirts for $3-$5 a pop. Unique enough that people remember me, subdued enough nobody gets intimidated.

I'm so old, the only time I see my friends is at the paintball field. My 3 best non-paintball friends stopped playing in high-school, which is why I bought a membership at my local field and eventually tried out for a team.
Long story short, screw your old friends. Your new paintball friends will be better anyway.

Almost always go alone, but after a few years everybody knew me. 20 years later everybody still knows me. Leaning towards big games now. Hell survivors Monster game this weekend. Meeting a couple people there. They will bail after first day. Can always find somebody to run the grinder with me.

Yeah now that my kids are grown I go by myself. I actually really enjoy it. I can go play as long (or short) as I like. I usually talk to new players and I have a group of guys that I like playing with. It's good because I can enjoy meeting and playing with different people but I don't have to worry if I want to leave. I can stay all day if I'm having fun or if it's 1000 degrees I can play for a few hours.
I always try and talk to people around me or on my team. That's helped me to know a lot of people at my field. I also like playing at different fields when I travel. Knowing how to go by yourself and meet people is a useful skill.-------------
