I'm happy to shoot whatever. Give me a slingshot, an old rental, 20 years later I still happily play with rental guns. I'll spend much more on my mask than on the marker. I was given this advice when I first started and it was definitely excellent advice.

I'd probably go with a Dye i5 but you do you.

Since when did they sell Dye gear at Walmart?!
It's online sales only. you're not gong to find them on the shelf at wal-mart. I've noticed they're dong this with quite a few things that you'll never find on a shelf.
I suspect they're drop-shipping them like many other online sales.

Walmart.com also operates as a "marketplace" like Amazon, so third party sellers can sell on/through there.
      I can haz feedback?
If I owe you feedback, just remind me, as I sometimes forget.

Walmart also typically gets factory seconds so that could easily be the way they are doing these

Best advice about anything besides rocket science level type stuff. Keep it simple so you can focus on what matters. It's a hobby for f***s sake! It's supposed to be fun. .

For some people, getting shot is the enjoyable part of the paintball.

My 7 year old daughter got Alexa to play the Manson version of that song this morning while getting dress. Said she needed her jam.

Pass passes over here, no little closer. Yeah most of us dont know what we are doing either. We just collect them, have them in pieces or hang them on the wall.

Very true! I rarely know what I'm doing, but I like getting markers and looking at their guts. Sometimes they even go back together properly and work! Best way to learn is by doing and not being afraid to ask for help.

Themountainking since you’re new this year, sign up for a Spyder we’re building:
Ok team, I’ve got a fun idea inspired in part by Cunha’s traveling Trilogy that keeps getting modded. This Spyder Sonix needs some love. The steel ball detent disintegrated, and I’ve printed a replacement (https://www.mcarterbrown.com/forum/paintball-news-aa/the-armory/kingman/211885-spyder-ball-detent-information#post211885)

Buy a good mask. I'd rather play with the worst gun on earth and a good mask rather than vice versa.

For some reason the VForce Grill is dirt cheap on ANSGear - they were considered decently high end masks back in the day.

I started playing in like 99, and what I can tell you is that the I've seen too many military guys think that their skills translate into the pb field and they get got. Keep things simple. A paintball isn't a bullet, you can have perfect aim but a single dimple in a ball can make it fly in any direction other than where you want it.

Also. Have FUN, and give props to people that get a good shot on you. It could just make their day when other shit in their life is bringing them down. Always encourage and cheer on the younger players. Oh, and don't bonus ball people.

Treat it like dodgeball, not war. It's a silly game to blow off steam, but you'll still be sore the next day!

The people you play with are so much more important than the gear you use, with the exception of a mask.

I'll recommend VForce, JT, and Virtue masks.

This part I wholly agree with, especially with newbies. I coud tell they were smiling under the mask, when I passed them on my dead walk off the field, and I said "you got me, good job!".

100% agree. When I take new players out into the woods, I explain that this is a game of tactical tag, not war. In war you don’t give a high-five to the person who just shot you and yell “Let’s reload and do that again!”

So many of these comments are helpful. Stick with 3 basic rules:
                    1. This is a game for fun. Big PERIOD. Unless you are playing professional paintball, it's a game. Don't take it too seriously. When they start paying you to play, you can act like an ass. Until then remember DBAD Don't Be A D__k
                    2. A good mask and keep it on ALL of the time on the field.
                    3. Markers make a difference, once you know how you like to play. Until then any (functioning) marker can get a hit. Yes, even the Talon pump that you have. I've scored eliminations with similar plastic masterpieces.
Enjoy yourself. Enjoy the people you are playing with. Be happy.
