Used Etha 2. It'll function as well as any other modern speedball marker and parts are extremely easy to find because all of the non-electronic parts are interchangeable with EMEKs which are commonly used as rentals.

I agree with this, the etha2 is a great platform, most of us here own a emek which is the same bolt system just with a mechanical frame. They are proven and very reliable. The etha2 has the e frame so you can still sling paint as fast as you want

Thanks for the replies everyone. I picked up a JT Proshield for now and have a couple of older markers I’m going to try to fix up before committing to something newer. I do enjoy working on markers. Once I go newer it’ll probably be some flavor of Planet Eclipse.

The logical answers is Emek Etha or Mini GS.

But there is just something to be said about running older equipment. The most modern paintball gun I own is a Azodin Kaos Pump 2. Otherwise I still shoot classic valved mags one I have been running since new in 99.

I just jumped back into the game; I was lucky enough to get to shoot a few high-end markers at my local field after I purchased an Etha 2. Honestly, they all felt extremely similar in the way of performance to my Etha 2 which was $300. You may even be able to get one for around $250. Would be a decent choice for woods/speedball if you aren't allergic to electronic markers.
