    I have a problem, but you all knew that already. Picked up my first mag.

    Misidentified it first, actually a minimag.

    Found a Minimag with matching serial #'s. I already have a rebuild kit on the way, it came with one, but man it's pretty old. What's the best way aside from a rebuild and cleanup of making this thing modern paint friendly? I don't actually know what bolt it has in it, but it might be a Level 10? I've got another project on my desk and we just got back from the field when I picked it up, so I'll check into it tomorrow when I can break it down on the kitchen table. I know Doc sells an adapter for autococker barrels, I just wasn't sure if that's what I need to pick up. What should I be on the lookout for as far as when it comes to rebuilding? My goal is to get it to cycle correctly and be useable on the field, I'm gonna have to redo all the fittings and hardlines, and I've been having a blast playing pump but a reliable semi backup in classic format has always sounded fun. It came with a big ol' stainless steel Lapco barrel as well, but, again, with modern paint being so small my assumption is it's probably useless. Friendly tips and tricks and things to look out for always appreciated. I'm very excited to play with it.

    I'm pretty certain that micromags are already cocker threaded (or fixed barrel on early ones). It does have a detent in the body... Don't know how well they do with modern paint.

          I don't know Mags well at all but you sure you don't mean Minimag? I don't think there are any Micros with twistlocks

          Level 10, R/T on/off, dual detente. Nothing else matters. You can rock a stock dual detented barrel all the way. I have at least 2 as back up, but prefer the doc's dual detented adapter so I can get a little more consistentcy out of it. Doc's single dentent adapters always double feed in my experience, but the dual detents are pure money.

              As Myrkul said get DocsMachine barrel adaptor with dual detent (convert any twist and lock mag to cocker thread) APP atomic elbow, a revy and sling paint!
              level 10 is a great update but you can play without it
              if you want to keep the weight down and you have the budget you can check for a ULE body (still available from AGD)
              I Love the look of the minimag body amd this thread is missing picture of what you got

                Ah dang, you are right, cardinal sin there. Speaking of revvys it came with a 9v non xboard.

              You're going to need a powerfeed plug. Get the parabolic one. The old ones have a flat spot that causes problems.

                That was one of the things I ordered from AGD along with their rebuild kit and lube. Tried finding one on here first but superman didn't have any to part.

              thats a sweet unit, though it looks like a standard minimag.
              I just went through this same process and documented the build in the "setting up a couple mags for my boys post" here in the AGD sub forum

              paint chopping was a big issue with mine, but I finally resolved it by doing a few things:
              • it will not shoot certain paint well at all - small and brittle will always be funky and you will get lots of breaks
              • I had the best luck with Valken Graffiti it was a little bigger and has a more robust shell
              • the cool thing about the mags is no rollouts due to paint size because of the detent, and wierdly enough you really want to use an overbored barrell - when I fianlly tried an old stock barrel I got no breaks and accuracy went way up
              • if you do use a docs adaptor which works great you want an overbored barrel again. it has one quirk though - it will always break the last ball.
              • make sure you get the right PF plug. airgun designs sells them
              • Dow 33 and outlast lube are critical to any mag re-build!

                I've personally never had issues with a twist lock. Either use a wire detent or a plastic one with tape over the nub.

                The reg piston and spring get a fair coat of dow33 or whatever paintball grease. The rest get oil. Urethane seals of the proper hardness are important. Once you install a fresh reg seat leave it there, and don't crack open the valve halves until you have issues. If you have a credit card's thickness between the trigger and rod leave it. Also put some antiseize on the reg adjuster threads.

                  Thanks for all the info again guys. I seem to have gotten a wild hare in my shorts for playing again and I am absolutely loving it while the season holds out here. I'll let you all know what I find out once all my parts are here, I've only got a small work desk, my partner has a downstairs studio do do her school work so I have to finish one project at a time. Rebuilding the LB is first, Mag is second, as I've probably got a few more weeks until I go play again.

                  Edit - Is there a way I can add on a tac rail for this random ass red dot site I have? I just thought of how funny that would look on the back of an old mag. I may or may not have found a random laser sight that I attached to my Maverick for shits and giggles at the field yesterday.

                    Sight are available for mag but they are dovetail (your red dot is for which type of rail?)
                    You should not have too much issue finding one here
                    I have one somewhere that could be for sale

                    Just a side note; the grease on the spring pack is just for rust prevention. That's why it's stinky like bearing grease.

                    That Allen socket is open to the weather, so a clean pack will rust without the grease.

                      Also, here is a printable key mod rail for a mag.

                      For mounting on an AGD Automag.4/10/20 - added variations for tighter fit to classic rail and for printing somewhat easier in vertical. KeyMod holes still need patching in the two vertically slotted versions.5/4/20 - KeyMod holes patched on flat sided version. Rail was lowered on flat sided version.12/22/20 - added a beefier flat sided version with tilted keymod rail to look around the feed neck.
