    X-Valve Not Cycling

I installed an X-Valve with a ULT into my Mag today. At first it had a barrel leak, but I was able to fix that by installing a smaller carrier from my Level 10 kit. At first, it was cycling beautifully. However, it seems to have just quit for no reason. The gun holds pressure and I can feel pressure in the trigger pull. It’s just that when I pull the trigger, it does nothing at all now. I’ve tried removing shims from the ULT and bolt, using another full tank, adjusting velocity all the way in, out, and back again. The bolts are all snug and I have checked and oiled every seal. I’m stumped.

Welcome to the woes of ult's....
sounds like you need to add a shim. more shims is the equivalent of a shorter on/off pin for a rt on/off.

Be careful. Years ago, I added too many shims to my ult stack and it blew apart when trying to thread them back together.

Insert my absolute despise for modern mags here.

Also, superman is likely right on, but you mentioned the smaller carrier. You sure your bolt isnt sticking? Ive been told q properly tuned lvl 10 is on the verge of leaking all the time.

Ive had issues with lvl 10 chuffing then sticking at a half cycle. The bolts not far enough back to fill the dump chamber, and the trigger still had air on the piston. The only thing that allowed me to keep chuting was if Id remove hopper, and reset the bolt with my squeegee by pressing on it down the barrel.

Totally frustrating when in a fire fight. Especially when if sticks again after a dozen or so shots.

Being you had a barrel leak, then dropping carriers on the bolt cleared the leak, I suspect the bolt cycle more than your ult.

I tried adding another shim to the ULT. No go. It already had four in it. I even tried adding up to six one at a time. same result. I also tried installing a larger carrier. This too made no difference. I then tried installing the valve into a different Mag. This allowed the valve to cycle. The difference between the two Mags is the one I’m trying to get working is built using a ULE body and a Nummech frame. The one I tested it in was a stainless powerfeed body and Intelliframe. The sears and rails are both the same model standard AGD. The other thing I can recall is that the problem started shortly after switching tanks during testing. The one that worked at first was a 68/4500 with an HK reg. The second one was a 68/4500 with a Ninja V2 reg. Both are set using their stock output pressures. That being said, with the first tank now empty, all of the testing I did using the PF Mag was also done using the Ninja reg. I’m probably getting lost in variables here, but now I’m completely stumped. There have been a couple times where I managed to get a few shots off, but then it just quits working again.

          It’s a stock classic rail.

How long is the trigger rod? Is there a credit card gap between rod and trigger when gassed up?

          Yes. It’s credit card width.

Superman, you got me thinking about that frame. Keeping all other things the same, I swapped out the Nummech frame for the Intelliframe. Sure enough, the gun cycles. I’m guessing that there must be a compatibility issue with these frames and classic rails. The frame was gifted to me by my secret Santa a while back, so I built the Mag using parts I already had on hand. What has me scratching my head though is why it worked so well before it just quit.

check and see if the circle portion below the pin is hitting the top of the nummech frame. I had this happen with lukes rails and had to grind it off.

Holy shit, Superman. You’re a freaking genius. I took my sear to my bench grinder to remove that hump, reassembled the gun, and now it’s working again. Thank you!!!

I took the gun out back for testing, shot it over the chrono, and it's smooth and consistent as hell. In case anyone is wondering, here's the final result.
