The "Perfect" Mag for under $500, $1000, and Bezo$ budget.

Title says it all. If you could build your ideal mag given the budget limits in the title, what would it look like?

If you've already built the perfect mag, please post a pic/description.

I started playing again after a 10 year hiatus but only ever shot angels and timmys. After shooting a friends mag recently, I've been blinded by the light and been reading nonstop about them and would love to know y'all's thoughts. Thanks.

That guy should really update his pictures on his collection, and do video build breakdowns explaining the parts too

Now granted, I picked up my mag at $125 and it already had a x valve in it (I absolutely stole it) but all told I'm in the ballpark of $700-800 VALUE currently. Next up I'm going to pnumag it, probably another $150 or so I'm expecting.

Performance wise I don't really see anything else after that I would want to do, I would love to change out the body and rail but anything I want is crazy expensive or not available so I'm kind of stuck there

If I remember I'll grab some photos tomorrow but here's the list

      X valve
      Ule body
      Intelli frame
      Luke panabas trigger
      Luke armada 9.1 (extended) rail
I forget the name but it's a Luke forgrip gas through that's angled back
      Cp stubby gas through
      Cp razor drop forward
      Cp mini on/off asa

So I've built a lot of mags over the years and still own quite a few in my fleet. You can get a lot out of your build for under 500 and you can make a really sweet mag up to a 1000. I will say being able to do the build yourself and being able to learn how to rebuild a mag valve/tune the gun will greatly reduce cost for your build.

Here's my my most recent custom build I did, I wanted to see how far I could get by doing something really custom, but also didn't want to drop a grand into another mag build. All the parts/ano, not including machining time I did myself, puts this build right around the 600 dollar mark. I will say time played a factor in this build too, If you slow down and shop around for parts, sometimes deals can be had. The ano work, I worked out a trade with a buddy, that's how I got the ano work done so reasonable. All in, from initial concept to end build took me about a year to do. I wanted something very different from "normal" mag builds and very happy with the build.

As far as a build sheet goes:

            Cut down ule body,
            RPG Feedneck
            Docs Detents
            Polished minimag valve half
            Red delete aluminum back cap
            Lvl10 Bolt/RT on/off
Cut down wgp stock barrel, threaded for agd crownpoint tip, and freak bored
Custom milled and shortened classic rail
            RPG angled vasa
            AGD Y grip
Autococker parts.com straight asa (super underrated)
            Inception Regulator
            CCM air Fittings

Love that grip panel and the stance of your build. Do you have pics showing the other side/angles?

I have a bad habit of not taking my time with hobbies, but I'm going to take your advice here and shop for deals and think this through. Did you have experience with machining before this?

Eventually I'll make a build thread on the agd sub forum with pics of before/after of the build. As far as experience goes, I'm mechanically inclined, but didn't go to a machining school or anything like that. Started with a drill press, a dremel, and some files. That got me going to do some mods when I first got interested in working on paintball guns. Eventually bought a manual milling machine and just figured it out/still learning as I go for different projects. Eventually I'll get a lathe for my shop.

What was your friend's setup that you shot?
I originally bought an automag classic, but upgraded over a few years of using it

I can say I very much liked the trigger kick back when changing from a classic valve to retro/x-valve
And my favorite upgrade ever was lvl10
I never had a ULT trigger so cant say whether these are a better feel or not.
$500 would get you pretty close to everything wanted performance wise for common parts, but specialty trigger frames(MP90 / Z2) and bodies would be out of budget.
So my must haves in the $500 category would be - intelli & xvalve, with ULE preferred....or offer trbo $126 for his. He profits, you profit everybody a winner =D

For no budget - something like this? Wave body, and I am also in for pneumag conversion

His was a plain jane classic but when he told me about effect valves/trigger combos had on RoF and responsiveness, I was hooked. Maybe trbo would sell his for $100, I mean it depreciated in value right? That green acid wash is beautiful btw.

Did you mean ULE preferred, are you referring to the on/off or body?

If you shot a classic valve, you will almost certainly be able to shoot a higher rate of fire using an xvalve but both are fun.

For ULE my comment was meaning for the body not the trigger.
I preferred vert feed and that was harder to get in the stainless bodies (ule body hadnt come out yet). My original body was a diggers centerfire minimag which was steel but had some downsides: tall feedneck, heavier body, limited barrel options. ULE Body can solve all of these and if buying as a package may cost less than adding it on later.

For the trbo trade add in a dash of blackmail and I think its yours for $100

For me, the best mag in the budget category is a ULE classic
              -Classic valve
              -L7 bolt
              -AM MM rail
-Nice single trigger frame or just a classic CF mag frame
-VL front grip (I love this design but harder to find, a standard bike grip would work too)

Basic classic mag usually sell aroung $150-$200
And add a ULE body for $120-$150

Cocker threaded barrel, simple and reliable automag

              Killer mag setup for $300 - $350
If I play semi, this one is always in my bag of guns to bring

If you want to make it more expensive just add an X valve and/or level 10 bolt. But it will be more complex to tune and service.

For Bezo$ budget, I would just contact Lukes Custom for a full build and then ship to Arc for a crazy ano

Having built many mags over the years I've had several ideal Mags. But my most ideal are my two pumpmags. Always have been. They were built cheap by today's standards as they are 20 years old now.

Currently I do not know what my idea automag build would be.

I've built eveeything from budget mags to my 3500$ dual mag monstrosity. Each was the ideal gun of the moment .
