Is this just what it's like?

I haven't owned too may cockers over the years. But i have one that i love now, and have enjoyed working on it. The thing is; now i have an lpr and 3-way just sitting on my desk. I literally have no more extra parts than that, but every time i look at them i can't help the thought... "I should build another autococker with these."

    Yeah, pretty much.

Those parts are the seeds of the next cocker to sprout in your gearbag.

For me it usually starts with, "there's and extra 10-32 frame screw, time for another cocker"
"but we all have electros and you guys only have pumps, this wont be fair"

        (chuckling quietly) "we know"

Yup.... To many parts will inevitably start another build.

            This ☝️

Or….sometimes…”not enough parts will inevitably start another build”

And this is just our way. Can be any marker

But dont worry, before you're done with this next build, you'll have gotten a new lpr and 3 way for it ...

I don't build semi-autos, but I always have anywhere between 60-80% of a pump cocker build ready to go at any moment.

You reward yourself for fixing the fence with a cocker body! Win-Win!

This is the joke for Automags, but if we're honest with ourselves, this crowd can make it happen with practically any gun

I'm kind of the opposite, I'm like, hey, I have 3 bodies, 2 frames, and a bin full of other parts, I bet I can put together a whole marker

Inevitably there one or two parts I still need to order

That's how my ebolt M98 happened... "hmmm, I have an Impulse ram and a Pimp solenoid, i wonder what I could do with them."
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

Never been bit by the Cocker bug, I usually bought them to strip them and turn them into pumps. I have a crap load of old pneumatics and rarely get the urge to put one together. My weakness is building Automags and Old School Nelson Clones.

I'm the other end of the spectrum. I'll buy a body kit with an idea in mind as to how I want it to be built then proceed to buy about 2 or 3x as many parts as it takes to finish a gun so that I have options to build it out. Gotta have a good selection of black, silver, chrome and other parts to play dress up on an autococker. If it doesn't look cool then what's the point?

Yep, I have a quite sizeable collection of Automags built (and modified) this way, and an even more sizeable collection of potential Automags in my hoard of spare parts and extras of every single Automag part.

But hey, I'm not one to discriminate, so I have taken budding steps towards this method with other markers as well.
