Let's talk barrels

Any reasonably straight and consistent bored barrel will work as well as any other. Slight over bore with some form of detent is my favorite way be it Wedgits or Dummy detents. I use freak or freak like inserts as well but only to get to a slight overbore on most markers.

I hope you have better paint in your area, and then various sized inserts/backs might make sense. Below is why I overbore. If I'm using a closed bolt (e.g., Autococker or pump), I overbore with RedLeaderSB's laser cut finger detents shown above by Chuck E Ducky.

Etha 3 - 10.2bps chrono data. Slow fire is the same, as I saw at the field chrono Thursday night. Note that Groups 1 and 2 (not shown) were with nylon paintballs (much more consistent) to test the marker's consistency while taking paintball variation (or most of it) out of the equation. I'll be putting together a post on that later.

I normally use GI Custom blend which is more footballish, but they were offloading some old paint. As you can see, the North and Soul poles are super tiny which makes underboring a nightmare. I'll probably stick with the Dye UL I have and try the finger detents for now. It'll be a pretty big overbore, but should net consistensy at the very least.

With paint like that consistency is going to be impossible. Don’t really matter. No barrel will make bad paint shoot good. I agree over bore is your best option with the barrel detents to hold the occasional tiny ball. You can probably go with a smaller back tho don’t need to be the old hotdog down the hall way.

Last few times I've played with my sanchez pump, I've used the J4 PAT barrel. Works well enough with a bore match to slight overbore. Get the occasional rollout but worth it to deal with paint inconsistency.

For what it's worth, use what you like and what fits your paint conditions.

I hate to be all "Shallow Hal", but looks matter.
