1911 grip panels that actually fit ST Gunfighter?

So I guess the gunfighter frames “fits” 1911 style grip but not all 1911 grips? I had picked up some VZ grips that I thought were going to match my build perfectly but when I fitted them up to the GI fighter frame apparently the frame angle is very different than a standard 45 frame. The holes line up fine and all but the grips were at a weird angle and hung off on a couple parts.

so basically does anyone know of any specific grip panels that fit the gun fighter frame and look correct? Either looking for a g10 type grip or something like a hollow cut hex pattern in aluminum that I could get annoed.

Yeah the ones I had got are for a gov’t model. The holes lined up but it seemed almost like the frame was a different angle than a standard 1911 (or at least the angel of the holes were), the front bottom of the grips were literally sticking off the bottom of the frame. Really was weird as I have another pair from the same company on my real steel 1911 and they fit beautifully and they looked to be the exact same shape.

Eventually we all learn that “1911” isn’t really a spec. Usually you can count on the screw spacing being correct but grips vary, actual 1911s vary, and paintball guns vary a LOT because many were only designed to work with wraparound rubber stuff from Houge or Dye which are very forgiving.

This took a lot of sanding and such. Hogue hardwood wraparound grips are absolutely not a drop in for for a Phantom.

yeah, maybe I just say screw it and track down a pair of dye stickies that are still in good shape. That was my original plan and then I started seeing some of the nice micarta/g10 type panels on cockers and found a pattern that would have really matched the build but yeah I don't have access to good enough equipment right now to shape adapt them... Metal grips were seeming like an option but I also am not sure I really would like the feel of them.

Maybe I will just grab some metal grips I found on eBay and if they fit at least anno them to match the build, hand cut some liners to go behind them, and if I dont like them I can always just use stickies maybe... if only I just had a damn CNC to make what I want haha.

At this point any stickie grips were paid for well over a decade ago and buying them used provides zero finical support to the company or to Dave.

Hogue aren't technically supposed to fit either, but the 8-32 screw can be forced through the material. This is pretty obvious when you set a set of nylon Hogue palmswell grips, they aremt designed to fit such large screws. Pearce grips can also be made to fit by forcing the screw into them. But this does damage the material around all these pp9

Dye grips were made to accept 8-32 screws. However the stylized section that sticks out into points on the top/rear portion of the grips don't match with GF's or Mozaks frames.

We need a source narrow/low profile head 8-32 screws. But I haven't been able to find them. I've found plenty of metric options but no standard.

I asked several machinists if they'd be willing to turn down screws to fix this issue, convinced others had ran into the same problem and would buy several sets. But all declined. Id pay $10-15 for a set of 5 screws so I could use my micarta VZ grips with these frame.

The only option right now is to modify your grips so they can no longer be used with the rest of your cocker frames or your actual pistols. That's a tough call, I've yet to decide what I'm going to do.

I ended up getting some aluminum grips on eBay that will fit close enough. Not perfect but much better than the VZ grips did. The only down side is one of the through pins is partially exposed which I was trying to avoid as I want no stainless showing at all on this build but I will deal with that or figure out something to cover it if it really bothers me.

for screws I found these (https://monsterbolts.com/products/so...nt=39083601356 ) which fit really well, I am going to use 007 rings u get the grips to help center and hold everything. The heads on these are smaller than the button head 8-32s (I think these are a spec of .27” if i recall vs .31” or something, but they fit in the head countersink which was the main thing)

I have had the same trouble, especially when using a GF that's been T-slotted and a POPS. I have to sand the forward and rear points until proper clearance is gained. You can barely tell once installed:

yeah I just ended up finding some aluminum fish net scales on eBay I will get anno'ed and then cut a thin g10 liner to go behind it to prevent crap from getting in. I think between that and the new gloves I got the grip should be ok but we will see. worst case I will just get a pair of stickies that havent broken down and call it good.
