Pre 2k Sheridan internal upgrade to later pre2k?

    I have a 1993 cocker.
Alright I want to drill the top of the body to adjust the hammer better. And fresh internals are only 100 bucks.
The problem is i have the old school IVG and all these kits have the screw in type IVG. And the hammers look different too.
can I use my old IVG with these newer pre2k kits? And will the new hammer work with my old IVG?

Top pick is the pre2k shocktech internals. Bottom is my old Sheridan junk.

    Thanks

    1. Can I use my old IVG with these newer pre2k kits?
    - Answer: No, the spring diameters are different

    2. Will the new hammer work with my old IVG?
    - Answer: No, same reason as above

Solution: Get a newer lower kit with a non-threaded IVG, or have the body threaded for a new IVG.

    AKA has a non-threaded pre2k hammer/IVG kit: https://akapaintball.com/index.php?p...cts/hammer-kit

You need a pre2k nonthreaded Nelson IVG. The Nelson ivg is wide enough for the bigger Nelson springs OD. Also it has a plunger inside that fits the ID of the spring.

The Sheridan ivg (probably just a cap with different mounting holes to adjust depth) wont be wide enough to fit the springs.

Also, newer hammer lungs are wider than old ones, so on my Pre-2K conversion I could not use a newer hammer as the slot on the body was too small for the hammer lug.

Refer to second page, post #16:
While this likely common knowledge to most MCBers, I have a pre-2k and a 2k body on hand so thought I’d do a quick comparison for people looking to learn more about cockers. This is my first pre-2k cocker, so please feel free to correct me and/or add information. As is usually the case, what I have on hand is a little but of

Can I adjust the ANS one from the top of the body? I can't find another view of it online.

These are adjusted from the rear by removing the cocking rod just like threaded ivgs.

The picture I posted wasnt a hammer it is a Nelson spring colpatible non-threaded IVG.

The ANS kit Walker posted ( https://ansgear.com/ans-autococker-n...ded-hammer-kit) includes the IVG and a hammer which has a top hole adjustable lug.

i recognize that picture. If you need help drilling the lug hole, tapping the body for an ivg or even purchasing the shocktech lowertube kit, let me know. Happy to help.

I'd vote drilling for hammer lug adjustment plus threading for IVG. Not expensive to have done, run better internals in an older body

Just to echo what everyone else said:

Get a new style valve & hammer of your choice, Nelson springs, and a Non-threaded IVG and get the hole punched in the top. I had to do this on a 96 Cocker a few years ago and it absolutely rips now. I ended up using a OTP non-threaded IVG.

Be sure to trim your valve spring down a bit to work too, the pre 97 bodies that use sheridan springs had smaller valve chambers.
