    Autococker SR Solenoid

    Hi All,

Just picked up an SR in parts because apparently I decided I didn’t already have enough unfinished cocker projects laying around. I have a WorrBlade off an Orracle that I’m converting to mech that I can use for the frame, but I’m looking for a solenoid solution.

I found an old thread on PBNation saying that the DM6 solenoid was the same, but there was some concern that the DM6 solenoid was 12 volt vs 10 volt for the SR. The guy in the thread had it working without any obvious problems. Any idea if that’s a workable solution? If so, he mentioned that the wires on the DM6 solenoid are too short, but I’m assuming I could just solder in some extra length.

This is the solenoid Dye offers:

Along with the Pilot for it:

It appears that they’re having their own solenoids made somewhere other than SMC now, but I’m assuming that it would still be compatible if it’s made to work with all the same markers.

A lot of assumptions happening on my part, which makes me nervous! Any thoughts?

Thanks Jake, that’s probably overkill for me since I have a complete front block other than the solenoid, but what are you asking for that?

the blue spool housings available now are a direct replacement for all the older solenoids and are made by dye… none of them were ever 10 or 12v.. they were all 6v. the clapper solenoids saw higher voltage but more so relied on the capacitor to drive them.

tbh i wouldn’t replace with new.. there are so many of the original solenoids floating around they can be purchased for dirt cheap (like 25-30 on ebay)
