In frame bucket changer with internal air lines.

    Hello,

Im considering this mod on one of my phantom.
Does anyone has dimensions/detailed picture of the mod?

There is not a lot of the valve over hanging the trigger frame, and the grip frame mounting screw is kinda of in the way for a 1/8 fitting.

Any help and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you MCB,
    X

I would tap the front of the valve body in front of the mount screw. You will have to modify the body to clear the transfer tube. I would try and use a hard line setup. Like some break line because I think the CCI line would need a lot of clearance to hide in the trigger frame. For the frame I would weld an Palmers ASA plug to a grip frame use the bucket changer as the back strap and wrap it in rubber wraparound grips.

Thanks, the location is where I was thinking ... But didn't though about hard line ... I do have some 4mm stainless tube from a project ... Might work really well with some 10-32 fittings 🤔

I’m thinking if you were to tap it on an angle it would clear the valve and hide it in the frame. I would try and keep it small as possible. Don’t need much for a dedicated 12g marker. You will probably have to clearance the body as well as the grip frame.

Zemon, here are views of 5-ish different bucket in grip mods that I have collected pictures of.
Also many views of Dukie DSP frames that have the bucket incorporated as the back strap. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of the actual interface (o-ring? Transfer tube?) between the trigger frame and the valve body.

FWIW, I have always thought that having the bucket as the FRONT strap of the grip would lend itself to much easier changes than the Dukie layout.

Way too many pictures to post. I will try to share the OneDrive folder. Let me know if it works.

Yes, true phantom Porn...but you haven't seen nothing yet! I will post up links to my Gas Through Grip photos also. I have been interested in having a Gas through grip phantom for quite a while (hence the photos). I now have one...and am on a Quest to GAS THROUGH ALL THINGS! LOL. The sleek aesthetic on a Phantom makes me tingly down under.

Congrats. If you like air through, I'll send you pics on my cocker (my first build).

Here is some more inspiration and ideas on the gas passage interface between the trigger frame and the valve….
First folder is examples of how my Phantom is done (not by me). This person does a real clean job. Mine is the Gunmetal Grey one. So sleek. I love it!

Next is some of Super Stanchy’s creations.

And here are a bunch of other ways people have gotten the gas from the bottomline ASA to the valve through part/all of the grip.

            That build is perfectly MCB…
Beautiful and Disgusting at the same time!

The gas line as trigger guard totally appeals to my brain because it reminds me of my first ever marker, a Tippman Pro-Am. Such a perfect way to route the gas line.

            Thanks 😊
I wanted the smallest cocker I could make, so I started with a midget and got all the top rails off ... Then got reed of the front block.
If I can get my pump assist kit to stop leaking it may return on it ...

All it needs is an in frame bucket charger and a ten Rd reverse feed tube and it's my dream build as a 15 year old.

          Xemon, one last one…
Having my own gas through grip, and having seen so many ways other people have done gas in grip, if I were to want to do a gas in grip Phantom…instead of chopping up an aluminum grip and trigger frame…I would design and print a complete trigger frame that accepts the proper “inserts” to handle the 12 gram and gas transfer.
If I wanted a in grip bucket changer, I would design around a duckbill or “XSV” low profile ASA that can be fastened in a pocket around where the traditional interface between trigger frame and grip are on the Phantom. The trigger spring anchor location can be adjusted some to free up more room even.
I would use a brass transfer tube horizontally rearward toward the back to a 90 degree block set in the frame from the top, and from that, I would use a stubby transfer tube vertically to engage the valve body.
No fasteners for threading for the gas transfer, just simple brass tubes with o-rings the slip into drilled pockets. Picture how the gas transfer tubes function on a Tippman TiPX.
I don’t know if I am explaining it properly. All I know for a fact is that a professionally SLS printed frame like from Shapeways is plenty strong enough (and super lightweight and comfortable ir designed properly).
I had been working with Pumpsendacate (Aaron) on a gas through grip trigger frame, and he came up with an ingenious design to use a Female Stabilizer as the ASA and an internal macroline exiting the back to a 45 degree down offset external fitting. Giving the clean lines of a gas through grip, without any custom work needed except drilling the new 1/8” Input on the valve body.
          Here are some pictures

We were starting to discuss a bucket changer in grip version, but then life happened and he has since moved on.
I nominate you to pick up the torch LOL!

Now, having said all that…I think the absolute BEST way to have gas in grip is to not have a bucket changer at all!
A dropout grip and lever changer of some sort like I have on my Nelspot 007 would be the ultimate my opinion.
Rainmaker is already working on modela printed version of the Nelspot Dropout Battle Grips. Maybe some of that work could transfer over to a Phantom integrated grip and frame version?

Any chance you got the original files (not stl)?

I may give it a try on some old nelson first
