I ordered one yesterday. I’ll be using it on my Duckslide with a 6” barrel.

Phantom 2.0 Stock Class Breech

I got one of these new 2.0 bodies today.
I normally use Freedummy's wedgits these days and they work great but they do have their negatives. One thing is that you have to be careful not to damage them or lose them when cleaning the gun. Another downside is that you can't just use any size paint. If you actually do get some .69 then its likely to break from being crammed by the wedgit.
I decided to try the 2.0 for my stock class "Micro" Phantom. Since people have been going on and on about the Air Soldier Products modification for ages I was expecting something at least as good as wedgets and hopefully a hassle free solution for years. The pictures I found online of this popular improvement made sense, a logical update, I went for it.
Since Phantoms are a breeze to work on I was able to swap it out in five minutes and do some test firing in the garage. I was extremely disappointed to see my first shot roll out onto the floor. I fired off a few more rounds but every time I pointed the cocked gun downward or swung it around as if to change targets the ball fell out onto the floor. The paint is weeks old Valken Graffiti measuring between .684 and .681. I shot 500 rounds on wedgits without issue at Monster Game just weeks ago, zero breaks, zero rollouts. Tonight though half of my ten round tube fell on the floor with the 2.0 body. As far as I'm concerned the breach I have here is no better for rollouts than the unibody.
So I guess I'd say I'm super disappointed. I have a useless new breach that costs as much as two dozen wedgits or 20 bottles of cheap nail polish. I'm sure someone will tell me to swap o-rings or whatever but the whole point of this was to find something better than what I had not to find something new with screw around with so I'll probably just decide this is a lesson learned to not waste time and money fixing things that aren't broken and forget I ever bought the thing.Last edited by SignOfZeta; 08-05-2022, 06:38 AM.

SignOfZeta. I think I have some of HaveBlue’s split rings for the really small paint. If you want them, PM me you address and I’ll drop them in the mail for you. I’m sure they’ll fit and maybe it’ll save you some headache

The o-rings they're supplying are probably too small. ASP would usually send a small pack with multiple sized o-rings.
-
You definitely need the larger oring. They are sending them with to small an oring if your still getting rollouts and double feeds. Mine all hold paint without a barrel.

Yep, a few people have hit it on the head. When you buy an ASP body, or have your body sent to ASP, you get i think 3 different O rings (one is hard plastic) and a little piece of paper that walks you through why you might use the different sizes.
i have had 10-11 bodies with the ASP mod over the years, and they were all, without a doubt, superior to detent rings or the 3D printed inserts, which i have also used extensively. I also used all of them with the larger O rings that were included with the kit (the EV ones look like the smaller ones) for the exact reason you mentioned - better safe than sorry, and no real downside.
send have blue a PM or email him through his website and find out the size he recommends for the larger o rings. Swap them out, and you will be rollout and double feed free, and will likely never have to mess with them again

Last night I played around with o-rings.
I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be playing around with o-rings, to be hassling with what was supposed to be a hassle-free solution. Its so fun. I added a problem to my perfect gun because I believe hype. I'm an idiot. I took the gun apart three times this week, three more times than I did in the last two years. I didn't follow the one main piece of advice I'm usually giving here, I didn't leave it alone. I thought since the 2.0 breach was now the new standard that I wasn't upgrading, "its still an OEM Phantom", I guess I must have thought. Learn from me somehow, if you can.
So anyway...
I have a kit of generic "autococker o-rings" kit here. I replaced the front o-ring that Extreme Velocity erroneously believes to be big enough with a tan one that looked slightly bigger and was quite a bit softer. It didn't seem to make much of a change. Then I took a really small o-ring (for switches?) and stuffed it inside of the tan one, a rather tight fit, and...one roll-out out of 30 shots. A massive improvement from %100 roll outs to %3.
So it does seem that having the right o-ring matters. Since the paint I'm using is about as big as anything you can reliably expect to find in 2022 I can't for the life of me imagine this breach I have here, as it was delivered, actually working to prevent roll-outs in any real-world situation. I'd say it needs larger and softer o-rings to do the job even a little. It may prevent double feeds just fine but I've never had an issue with that with any gun so I would't even know if that feature worked.Last edited by SignOfZeta; 08-07-2022, 11:39 AM.

Its a hassle because its not supposed to be something I mess with. Its supposed to solve problems, not create them. Its a hassle because it's double the price of the last breach I bought from CCI and its only innovation since then does not actually work.
I haven't contacted EV yet because I'm trying to figure out how to phrase my question.
"Is this supposed to work?"
"Did you develop this feature with .69 paint?"
"OK, I've looked all over your site...where have you hidden the o-rings I need to make this thing actually function as described?"

You need a larger oring then what you are using. Because you don’t know the size you probably need to play around with it. Extreme just started offering the service so they may
not even realize it’s an issue. Especially since you haven’t contacted them yet. You should probably try that. It’s possible they didn’t machine them exactly the same as ASP dose there’s. ASP offers a few different size orings and some plastic U shaped clips. I always use the large ones. You can Try a stronger Duro. Also if your front grip frame screw is not tight the body and frame will not sandwich the oring and it won’t protrude into the breach. I’m sure you could get it to work but Freedummy detents may be more your speed.
ASP detents are hands down the best mod for the phantom I have had over 6 bodies done and several round head bodies with absolutely no issues. But I use the larger oring supplied with the ASP kit.

I don't think we can fault them on the price... we all know Mike never pegged for inflation, so it was bound to end some time.

Ok, after a couple of nights of doing EV’s work for them I arrived at what I think is the perfect o-ring situation. I shot about 60 rounds without issue, testing it by swinging the gun all over the place, no roll outs.
The reason I got this was because I was hoping for better accuracy than I get with wedgits. It’s not that wedgits are bad it’s just that every once in a while, 1/10 shots maybe, with my 6” barrel gun and wedgits I get really screwy shots and I was hoping that the 2.0 would fix this and…it did. I don’t get any of the screwy shots anymore, accuracy is honestly pretty great for a 6” barrel that is almost 2” of integral muzzle brake.
When the o-rings wear out I’ll have to do the trial and error all over again unless EV starts selling (working) o-rings. Between then and now I’m happy.

I had this problem too when I got the ASP detents. The key is to find the biggest O-ring that could go in there while still working. Lucky for all you guys, I've done the experimenting already. This experimenting was all done when the modification was all done by ASP.
The biggest O-ring size you can use is 3mm ID x 7mm OD x 2mm width. This was the large O-ring that ASP supplied.
The next size up is 4mm ID x 8mm OD x 2mm width; in my Phantom, it was too big and the paintballs would rub up against it too hard and pull the O-rings out of their slots. I have 200 of these if anyone wants to experiment with them. Send me an address and I'll mail you some. I also have 200 of the 3mm ID x 7mm OD x 2mm width O-rings too if anyone needs them. I have only needed to use two of them in the last 4 years.
For me, the ASP detent mod is the ONLY mod required on a Phantom. I love my ASP detents. I nearly gave up on the Phantom until someone pointed me in the right direction. I'm glad they come standard now.Last edited by frd333do33; 12-19-2022, 12:56 PM.

Seems like these may be the ones specified by anarchic https://www.theoringstore.com/store/...ducts_id=40666
“2mm width” being the cross section and 3mm ID

I bought mine here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1
Same seller might be cheaper on eBay.
But I have 198 of mine still. Send me an address and I'll mail you some. I paid $5 a few years ago. At my current burn rate, I'll die before I ever use them up.
