Used phantom and a few issues

Picked up a used phantom so I could have a matching anodized stock for my other phantom. It seems to have a few issues. For starters it has the the barrel through pump arm which seems a bit hard to screw into the body and once attached seems a bit difficult to cock. Enough so the spring on the pump rod will not return it to closed. The other issue I have is that the screw n 12 gram cartridge changer seems to be screwed tightly shut, any advice on how to get it open without damaging or scratching it?

The 12gram adapter piece can be removed with a large allen key. I think it is 3/8". It sounds like the pump arm is bent causing the binding.

If the inside of the bucket changer is not hex broached, you can remove the piercer, screw in a piece of threaded rod or a bolt and use the double nut technique to remove.

very rare for this to happen but theres a very slight possibility the pump handle hole doesnt match up right with the slot in the frame. you can also loosen the strip screws, pump the handle a few times to see if it gets smoother that way and tighten if it "self aligns".

the screw that holds the back piece into the long piece? or the screws that mount the stock to the grip?

Are you sure your pump rod is in the right hole in the bolt? Make sure it’s indexed properly. If it is it’s likely bent. If you have a brass shim and a bent pump rod it will give you a lot of issues even if it’s just off by a bit. Are you running the over barrel handle?

if you are running a UC kit make sure you dident lose the lock washer it spaces the UC mount bolt so it don’t enter the breach and hit the front lower lip of the bolt. It can damage the bolt face and cut the breach sealing oring. Especially if you force it closed. This can cause binding issues as well.

you can leave the pump arm a lil loose and you don’t need the nut on it that can sometimes have clearance issues on some barrels. When installed it can’t go anywhere as it’s keyed into the trigger frame. I tiger them up and back the off one turn. No locking nut.

Post some pictures maybe a video if you can so we can see what you are working with. We also found several fixes for Xtremes sticky new cup seals. I got some new ones in that are working just as good as the OG ones I been hording.

Sounds like it. They don’t get net from playing often if it bangs against something in a gear bag or something they can bend slightly. If it’s a lil out if wack it will boned in the channel the pump arm rides in,

At this point, your peers are going to take this troublesome Phantom and sort it out one way or the harder way. 😂... 🤔

This does seem to be leaning towards a hasty assembly. 🤷♂️

To be honest I have a bit of a conundrum with this one.

I snagged it mainly to get a matching L stock for my other phantom.

Should I keep this one and upgrade it (thinking an undercocking kit) or part it out? Hmm decisions decisions...

All this sweet acid wash needs is a new pump rod, a brass shim, a grip change out and/or an optional trip for a ASP detent mod..🤔

That is a nice acid wash, I wouldn’t part it out. Just my humble opinion though. That rod does look bent, as several people already pointed out. I would keep it and upgrade it though! ASP detent mod is a MUST! It can be hard to find a matching 45 grip, but I recently picked up a Hogue 15 degree grip that bolts on like the lone star grip and it is pretty similar in feel to a 45. Granted it has much less heft to it since it’s plastic. But the angle is right at least. I also see those thumb screws are laying in the wrong spots. Not sure if they are different lengths or not, but I would still make sure they get out into the correct spot when reassembling.

I bought a used phantom recently with a similarly bent rod and was able to bend it back to straight fairly easily. Though a replacement is fairly affordable as well.

managed to get the rod fixed. the c02 is still stuck but I'll deal with that later
