Question about VSC fittings

Hello, I went back in time and picked up a Phantom VSC (had one 20 years ago). This one has push-type fittings that look like micro line fittings. Were these type of fittings used by Mike on the first run of VSC? As I notice almost all VSC use threaded compression fittings. Any insights appreciated.

Those dont look like the exact fittings I've seen before, the ones I've seen are a slim profile where those ones get thicker. Either way some Phantoms had push connect fittings at one point. If they get leaky, you can usually pop the lock ring out and replace the rubber o-ring inside.
