Interest - Phantom Freak XL back, through stock pump

I sketched something up and I'm wondering if it's worth a run.

Using a Freak XL insert, a standard Freak front, and a custom back, it should be possible to run a Freak setup on any Phantom stock configuration. Through the stock pump handle, above an undercocking kit, whatever. The threaded portion is far enough forward to clear the pump, like the old school J&J kits.

Is this something where there would be a lot of interest? Enough to make a few dozen, so there's actually a chance to get it under $100? Shown below in green.

I’m in for 1. I have a freak threaded Apex tip that’s been waiting to be used on a Phantom for far too long.

Would you be able to make one designed around a Nova Slide?

I don't have one to take measurements from - what's the ID of the slide, and how much of the barrel does it cover?

I am currently trying to get my phantom set up with a bore insert system while retaining the use of my original custom ano barrels. Not sure if this aligns with your idea, but thought I would share my desire. Is there a way to make the back/insert side of the barrel accept the factory phantom threads vs a freak front? I was told boring mine would be a risk since they have the o-ring channel cut. It would be super cool if I could just throw my shorter barrel on the front.

You can bore them however with the oring slot they will be thin at that point. It will work but won’t be as strong as it was. I had one like that for many years and it worked fantastic. Option 2 have the barrel shortened slightly to remove the oring slot. Rethread and bore it for inserts. Option 3 send your body out for ASP detents mod and forget about inserts because you won’t ever need them again.

I've done all of that work for people, and it would be much easier than cutting a good Acme-form internal thread in the freak back.

Made some progress over lunch today, so now there's a physical test unit in hand. I'm thinking preorders at a discount to gauge how many people genuinely will buy.

Opened it for preorder with a slight discount for the early birds. Gonna take about 6 weeks to get them in hand.

Pre-ordered 2. Hopefully you can start freak boring barrels again.

I've done it well a few times on the new lathe, but setup is still a challenge until I turn a new backplate for my collet chuck. So no one-offs for a while yet.
