T2 troubleshooting

Hey all. I'll start by saying, I assume it needs a rebuild and or springs, but before I open it up I figured I'd get help from the brain.

Last weekend, I went put for a game of paintball on my Birthday. I went out with a few shooters as I always do.

Of my shooters was my new to me ccm t2. Initially it was leaking at one of the ccm fittings. Fixed that upthat'd aired it up. The cup seal leaked. I racked the sled to get the hammer off of the valve. Re aired it up. Held air.

Took it to the chrono, and was shooting about 112fps.

I assume it's like a cocker to a degree, but the ivg only has a few turns total adjustment. I backed the ivg off into the back cap. And upped reg pressure. 160, more pressure... 200... another quarter turn on the hpr and now the valve stays open when the hammer drops and it leaks down the barrel.

Increasing the ivg didn't didn'tin this case. I tried it in a few different spots of adjusting.

My thought is I need a new valve spring at the very least, but I also figure there may be a common issue with these hprs or something I'm missing.

You guys have any input on where to start?

Our crew has seen some issues come up with the CCM regs. You’re saying that with the reg pressure increased it leaks down the barrel? Thats weird, normally you get barrel leaks with too LOW of a pressure input.

I would start with a full breakdown and rebuild of the reg and maybe lower tube then go from there. Aside from the HPR you could potentially have worn out springs or other components that are starting to age out.

Also before you go too crazy you could swap the HPR and see if that fixes the issues.

Go for a reg rebuild. Check the pin at the top of your reg to see if it’s bent. I don’t think that would show the leak, but it can do very strange things if it’s bent/broken

check the top section of the reg, specifically the reg seat oring. pretty sure it should be a 90 durometer oring. Also make sure the piston is installed correctly.

Also worth noting that CCM recommends 300-350 PSI on the T2.

I have owned three and they all shot awesome in that range.

Yeah cocking before air up. That barrel leak was never an issue. Just the fact that it started leaking on pressure increase. I too was perplexed, figuring more input pressure would make it leak less.

All in all once that weird issue arose, ai just put it away and swapped guns.

To high it will leak as well CCM springs are spring super lite and balanced. Wouldn’t hurt to invest or build in a pressure tester with a spair ASA and a liquid filled gauge you can find at any plumbing supply store or even Amazon. Set it at like 300-350 IVG two turns in from flush and make sure you have the long grip screw in the front and the short in the back. Otherwise it will mess with your lower internal spring’s operation and cause all kinds of funky issues. That top pin in the reg can get mushed if you go in in the reg to much. But also that 90 duro oring at the top can leak. I would try cleaning it first. Also if you happen to need part email CCM they don’t put a lot of the site because of scalpers. Tell them what you need half the time they just send it to you if it’s small. If you can’t find what you need PM me I can probably help you out if you are in a pinch finding what you need. I have some contacts. Follow those Tec video to a T and she will perform flawlessly. Set it and forget it. Clean it only when you notice a decrease in performance. Don’t touch the reg when you get it sweet spotted. Also worst case you can send it to me I can tune it for you but it’s best to learn how yourself so you can clean it when needed.

Revisiting this.. I had a wild hair today, and decided to peek I to the hpr of this beast. This plunger WAS flupped flat side up. I didnt think anything of it.. the pin on the top end is pretty corroded. I cleaned it up with white vinegar best I could. When I put it back together, I naturally flipped the plunger like this. Then I stopped, and looked the manual up online.. maybe this is why it wouldnt work.

That will do it. Sometimes people adjust the reg in to far and it will mash the top pin requiring a replacement. But if that piece was flipped it won’t balance out pressure properly. You have a reg tester? If not just sweet spot that bad boy the old school way over the chrono and don’t touch it till in needs a good cleaning.

I pulled the valve and greased that up also. I think the valve retainer nut was backed out some also.

I tossed this makeshift reg tester together and got it holding air a few notches above the 250 psi line, from what I've read, they come factory set to 290. so Im in the ballpark.. It wanted to leak with the hammer weight on the valve. BBut if pre cocked it cycles. My buddy has my chrono, and my gun shy dog says that's all I get to try today.

Mine just cowers, into my wife's lap, or under the bed if she's not home. So I have a hard time teching gear. I always feel bad for it, but I have a bunch of shooters that need love. This T2 included.
