The Spocker... Cocksper... Spydocker?

Everyone has a trigger... mine was a Spyder Cocker project. Wallet was in hand before my eyes even registered what they were seeing.
Now it has arrived! And... oh dear... oh yes!... oh my!

Wonderfully wrapped in static clouds it was very clear that this was a love project for someone. It sadly has been sitting for a long time. Dust had accumulated all over, the o-rings liquified, not even the faintest outline of a greased thumbmark.



She's gonna need a full tear-down and rebuild... and ooOoOoooohhh. Interesting!

I had to do some cleaning... just picture these parts in a dusty, o-ring gooey state. (Still more internal cleaning to do).

You should add a vs2 valve
and an Azodin kp3 striker it will only need minor modding

I'm intrigued, I have a VS2 valve and definitely enjoy it. Not familiar with the KP3 striker but I will investigate. I might look at this combo once I get the existing setup functional and see where the failures are.

Day 2.

The Cockspy is an intricate beast, almost completely following the exact layout of a standard autococker.

As you can see the hammer assembly is threaded together and the bolt is tied to a back-block.



The bolt is a normal Spyder ACS (anti-chop system) that is pinned by a vertical screw to the back-block. It is clear someone used a good set of tools to set the grooves and add threading to the bits and pieces. The spacing is accurate, this guy knew what they were doing.



I'm super curious what the intention of this design is. This friendly looking doom spike is welded onto the end of the hammer. It is a little messy but shows signs of being turned down and when I spin it in my fingers the center appears to be accurately set to center. What is interesting is the spacing. This is clearly intentional. My guess would be to move the trigger position in preparation for the 3 way timing. No modification was done to the valve so I don't think it is related to airflow (specifically the blow-back action).

I'll use some high-grit sandpaper to clean this death-spike up some. The Hammer should have nice clean surfaces so it moves without restriction.





Other than cleaning everything up and getting each individual component working again I'll need to add a 3 way. There are a few ways of doing this but it looks like a bracket was intended to go where this little screw is. I have it removed and you can just see the front of the hammer face. Not super great since that o-ring will be riding across this hole, so I'll need to triple check it is clean and won't eat that o-ring.



I won't know where to go yet until I actually get things functional again. The most important part will be making sure the trigger is able to release the hammer before tripping the 3-way.

Next step is rebuilding the Ram while I wait for some parts.

Is the valve pin still notched for blowback?
I'm guessing he extended the striker because the cocking rod wasn't long enough?

It's not, and also other than lost efficiency I don't think it would actually do much either. The operating pressure should be too low to overcome both the RAM and the spring. I've got an idea how to remove the blow-back altogether though.

Almost. I picked up some hardware recently and had the idea of using locking nuts to pin the 3 way to the bracket (working on that now) but I grabbed the wrong size.

I still need to rebuild the ram, so will hopefully have some time this holiday to try and finish it

Well Happy New Year and You... anyone know the actual size of the 3 Way threads? My hardware store doesn't have anything that matches in order to pin it to the little bracket I'm making.

My intention was to use lok nuts to secure it, instead of trying to thread the bracket itself.

I wanna say those are something weird like 5-40? Probably why you can't find hardware.

Edit: thinking the timing rod. The 3-way threads are also odd: 15/32-32. It's standard in industrial applications for some valves.
