    New broken Hammer

So, I wanted a vintage pump and bought this "rare Kingman Sypder Hammer in mint condition" off of EBay. Went to test it out and the grip frame broke after a few shots. Before testing, I noticed the safety was missing. Ahhh, well no returns or refunds but I did order a new composite grip frame. Anyways, I'd like to know what upgrades y'all have done to your Hammers

Like for instance, barrels, pump handle replacements, alloy grip frames, asa adapter, etc. I read that any old alloy Sypder grip frame will fit without any mods. This being my first pump and a Nelson design at that, I'm a noob on upgrades and modifying these old pumps.

Stinks to hear the frame has broken. It is common with those plastic frames. I like the metal frames for durability and they take .45 frame blocks, which is nice.

I think the best thing going for this right now is a single trigger Bob Long frame milled for nelson based pumps. wooulf is selling them for $20. Trracer frames are commonly seen on Hammers also.

On the pump handle there is a screw you can loosen that allows the inner sleeve to come out. This will allow for barrels with larger O.D.'s. Barrels are Spyder threaded so there are loads of options.

    Here are some of mine.

This is an original Hammer Plus with .45 block and bottom line setup. I have another one completely stock in its original packaging from 1994.

This is a Hammer with metal frame and .45 block w/Hogue palm swell grips, bottom line setup, and a Freak barrel.

This is a Hammer with a Trracer frame and a PMI chameleon kit, so it's semi auto now.

It is a little crude but it works. More force is required to pull the trigger and on mine there is a little bit of movement during operation as I've not yet fabbed the sight rail for the kit to fully be mounted.

I have an AutoTrracer which I like more.

A question just popped up. The barrel that is currently on my pump is fitted with a inner brass sleeve, I assume that has something to do with ball roll-outs or something else entirely? I was wondering if that's something I need to address if I get ahold of any Spyder barrel

Today we are dealing with small paint. Depending on where you are and what paint you have, you may experience roll outs.

I like the factory brass lined barrels. They shoot just fine. I do have a Freak barrel on my digi cam Hammer and it works a treat.

The brass in the factory is removable. It's been said that a Freak insert will then fit. I'm unsure if this is true as I've never done it.

Welcome to the club. I too would like to know what rear Asa and internals fit inside of these things.

Slightly older Hammers have a metal trigger frame. I do know most Nelson pumps are very similar and alot of parts are interchangeable.

I have seen that thing on ebay for a while. That sucks that the frame is broken, especially at the price it was listed and in "mint" condition. I would at least leave feedback.

Being bore drop, a few different bolts will fit. The velocity adjustable Empire Trracer or newest Hammer can work.
That's really the only upgrade for these. Not sure why you would need to replace the rear ASA.

I'm looking for a straight asa instead of the angle

I would have left some feedback on the seller but he probably didn't know it was gonna break since he stated that he hasn't used it in years. Either way, it'd be a waste of energy. I am getting a new composite frame with 45 grip but still prefer a metal frame

While a regular spyder frame will line up, the slot (not sure what to call it) for the hammer on the frame needs to be filed off to make it work. Otherwise, the geometry doesn't work.
The plastic frames are prone to cracking over time. I also sent you a message about a replacement frame I have.

I saw your message. The messaging center is a bit confusing to navigate

I also noticed something about my pump. It doesn't say Hammer A, just Hammer on the frame. Reason I bring that up, is I believe I have a auto trigger. I tested it out while keeping the trigger depressed and it was shooting every time I pumped it. That's what makes the auto trigger a auto trigger, right?

Yes it will autotrigger. The A is for alloy, or aluminum (there is some debate on that) meaning the frame is metal. You will also find Hammer P's where the frame is plastic.

Here's the link to the frames I mentioned in the first post:

So I have a bunch of these frames that Sanchez Machine milled to fit a Brute , Nelson pump markers. They were milled to fit a round body. Sear and trigger holes were added although the Spyder hole are fine and these still can be used for Spyder Markers. Note, I took one down to Lucky Ducks and he lined it up on his Line SI and

Has anybody tried one of these frames on a trracer? Just picked up a tagmaster that might make a good guinea pig.

I have recently seen one fitted, and though I can't remember for certain, I think it was to a Trracer.

The mounting hole spacing is different so you'll have to make a new one.
