Metal disc - part 27A - replacement

So Spyder part 27A, the small metal disc that sits between the plastic spring guide and the RVA, is out of stock everywhere and Kingman won’t make them anymore. 3D printing them is silly, because plastic obviously won’t work. But that leaves some of the used Spyders that I pick up in bundles without the disc, putting their plastic spring guides at greater risk of breaking.

Has anyone found a source for an acceptable replacement?

Yeah I might look for something at Ace Hardware. The problem I have with washers is that there’s a hole in the middle, and that’s where the RVA hits the spring guide.

Unless I'm missing something I don't think the setscrew for the adjuster will be small enough to protrude through the hole in the washer.

What about printing the spring guide itself? Print the base a little thicker to make up the difference. I've always hated those metal disks anyway, easy to lose and other times it bends.

I’ve thought about that, but I’ve seen some spring guides with holes bored into the back of them by the RVA pin.
Agree on the flat disc issue - they’re way too easy to lose. I definitely prefer the all-aluminum integrated RVA & spring guide design they’re using on the latest generation of markers. The new Spyders just don’t have the flair that older generations did.

Flat washers will work just as well. They are inexpensive too. If you're really looking for the original discs, I've some. Let me know.

Cool, I’l see if I can find some flat washers with small enough of a hole that the RVA can’t poke through.

You won't want the RVA to push through. The RVA should press against the disc.

I've not looked for complete discs at the hardware store but one would think they are there.

If you still have some of these disc's, I'm in need. Long story short, got a parts gun to fix up the old spyder compact back to original. Let my son take it out this weekend and my father in law took it apart and lost it the disc the first time out after I got it up and running. I tried to message you, but I guess my account is too new.

i dont think i ever broke one of the golf tee's before. or even seen them break for that matter? ive seen the wrong end cap screws used that dug into the side but never seen one broken.

if youre trying to keep something period correct, im sure i have some to spare if needed.

Thanks! I have the spring guide/golf tee. It’s the metal washer that goes between it and the RVA that I’m missing.

I bet Ace hardware will have something comparable, and if they don't you could always just use a pliers to hold a dime against a grinder. Grind that dime down to size.

I would go with a gold dollar. Yeah, it's more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I would try parkrose, they have a huge fasteners section that's pretty much where I get all my screws from

Get some thin shim stock and use tin snips to make a circle roughly the size of the spring guide. Then super glue it to the end of the guide to eliminate it from bending. The disk is there just to make sure the rva doesn't eat the plastic guide so a shim will 'armor' it.

Someone give me some dimensions. Thickness, diameter, etc. We have a hole stamper in the tin shop at work. I'm pretty sure I can convince the tinner to punch a few. We have all kinds of aluminum, and we have stainless, but I'm not sure about the thickness we stock normally.

The discs measure in around 11mm (7/16") in diameter. I haven't calipers so I used a tape measure. They are just under 1mm in thickness. Unsure of the material but one would think it's cheap-o steel. Here are some pics:

Got a hold of one of those discs and a big thank you to Scotti for getting that to me so I can get my old spyder up and running. So +1 on to him for that.

I took some pics of the actual dimensions. In case anybody in the future wants to make some.
