    Spyder MR3 & VS3 questions

Bought some electro Spyders on SGW and was pleasantly surprised the MR3 has eyes! All the boards power on & the noids click, and two of these actually came with 9.6v batteries.

The Pilot has two ball detents - I don’t know Spooders came set up like that. I bought a red Dye sticky on super duper sale at ANS, otherwise that one is easy.

The MR3 has a cool board - I like the easy selector switch for semi w/eyes, semi w/o eyes, and auto. Looks like I’m missing the AR15-style charging handle assembly. Anyone have one kicking around? Otherwise this should also be straightforward.

Now the VS3… I couldn’t get the blasted tiny set screw from the regulator out so I can’t change the o-rings on the SS reg seat. My screw extractor set’s smallest bit is too large for the screw. Heat didn’t loosen it up. Everything else has new seals. I’ll try to air up and see how it goes but I anticipate it’ll leak since the other urethane seals were goo

Any suggestions? I rebuilt the balance valve so that should be ready to run.

    1) Should I just swap the balance valve internals over to the MR3? It has a large volume chamber built into the body and a long valve pin spring already.

    2) Most people think the Asa reg is trash. Has anyone successfully rescued these?

    2) Anyone have a charging handle for the MR3?

Does the gas through on the vs3 have standard reg threads up top? Because that would be an easy way to solve your problems, replace the ASA and move to a forgrip reg

Nope, I’d need an adapter. Thanks, Kingman.

The CP adapters are cheap. I have a dust red one if you need it. I also have a dust black Trinity front block with LPC for these as well. Both will allow you usage of a nice HPR.

Yeah they changed some stuff on the vs series. It enabled them to make them significantly less expensive but does mean some things were not as helpful to the end user

I think you might be able to swap out the whole front block with another spyder front block that does have standard threads though. But that's a lot of stuff to replace. Even still if I was keeping this for me or one of my daughters that's exactly what I would do

Looking around it seems Oregon Paintball has a dust black one on their site. They’re nearby - I’ll see if they actually have it on a shelf somewhere. scottieb I’ll ping you if this doesn’t work out.

I’ve got a spare dust black GoG regulator. Should be fine for the VS3, which needs 200-250 psi

Got it figured out. My cheapo 1.5mm allen keys were stripping out. Bought some bondhus keys and it pulled the grub screw right out.
New seals on the piston, no leaks.
