    ring markings on houndstooth barrel

    assuming these are bore size indicators? or just decorative? I seem to remember something about them

      Mine has no marks like that. It's probably a later model, the serial number is on the sight rail and all polished nickle.
      As early as that one appears the marks could have significance, but I've never seen them before.

        IIRC Two rings is always .685
        One ring or three rings is .680
        no rings is .690

        Depending on time period. 0 = 690, 2 = 685, 3 = 680. When Craig was marking/identifying barrel ID. A caliper is your best friend to give you approximately barrel ID also.
