    BUSHY Build

The Wrath's at anno, the temptation to vsc all the oldschool nelsons i can is overwhelming😁

I had a cool part show up today, PtP Universal powerfeed! fooling around in my parts bin, this new little piece would form the basis for my next frankenstein!

This is a Bushmaster i picked up from a seller on the West Coast who claims it used to belong to Jack Wada, of the Kamikaze Shooters. While that is a very cool (if true) factoid, i mostly grabbed it because it had a removable barrel that was bored for freak xl inserts and some other parts i planned to use for other things.

The Bushy gets loaned out at our stock class events, but besides that, she mostly sits. I also like to put it in folk's hands when im showing off my collection to the younger generation. "back in the day, THIS was the hottest gun out there!"
After swapping things around on my Lapco to turn it into a Vertical Stock Class configuration, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was to have an old, "phased out" side feed marker modernized a bit. A sort of anti-Phantom. Maybe 'bizarro' is the better term!
Being dual rod, my usual modus operandi of pulling the feedneck and drilling and tapping for a phantom feed wouldnt have the clearance. But with this ProTeam feed, and one of flyweightnate 's phantom neck adapters, the ball is rolling!
This combo fits like it was made for it! Everything's in the 'fitting-up' stage right now but i'll probably get it attached soon.

Onto the vasa! I think ill be able to mount something on the same screw hole that attaches the trigger group to the rail, right in front of the guard. a WGP piece actually fits the contours beautifully! But maybe ill try an AGD to save me the trouble of putting the 1/8th NPT hole in.

That’s rad. I was thinking of running vasa on my bushy but who knows when I’ll get to that. Was the feed neck easy to come out? Very cool.

it unscrewed with a little elbow grease.
in hindsight, removing the bolt first probably wouldve been a good idea 😂

You need an ICD lever on this to keep it in the family.

No problem! It's telling that the names "Promaster" and "Bushmaster" got recycled by ICD too. The IP is a lot less messy if it's all owned by the same guy anyway. 😉

I spent way too much time on Bacci's site a few years ago and went down a huge rabbit hole and pieced it all together. Line SI = ICD

The PRP and those "ICD Updated Nelson" 5.5 power tubes that "just so happened" to fit Line SI bushmasters that were released in 2016 make a lot more sense too if you look at it from this prospective.

Back in the day, I turned a stud that was 10-32 on one side, 1/4-20 on the other so I could mount a Mag VASA (with the ears trimmed off) on the front of a Bushy frame. I'm getting similar vibes!

Planning to plug the vent on that Cocker VASA somehow? I might need to make a little plate to turn the air 90 degrees for you...

an offer i could NEVeR refuse!!!

out of my parts bin options, im heavily leaning towards the wgp. the ears fit the rail perfect and i kinda like the chonk iness
i was gunna just booger up the passages with jb weld or hit em with the spoolgun at the shop
but a phrameworks piece would be top
      shelf

      if youre interested,
what i REALLY would appreciate help with is a cleaner looking valve body. something that comes back just a little past flush, maybe tapped for a rear gauge? ill probably go through the body (or slot it?) for the hardline connection

I have some CAD files from 15+ years ago on this, if I can find them... might be faster to start from scratch at this point.

I'll sketch something up as time allows and run it by you for your opinion.

the feedtube/feedblock coupler is hardware store copper rattlecanned matte black
snipped the ptp feed for a lower profile and nipped the bushy's behind to fit a lapco valve body!

            thank you!
ill bring this one to Slims too! its one of those 'puts a smile on your face just holding it' guns
Theres just something about making the older nelsons into VSCs.
works like a phantom, kinda looks like one, but feels completely different in the best way possible

Time to cut this one loose! Took it to Slim's Spring Game, no dice S/T!
Let me know if anybody would like it!

          Small updates:

Ive drilled a hole through the PtP adapter so the mounting screw can be tightened/loosened without yanking the thing apart everytime.
Just pull the feed plug and shes easy to get to.

The EV hardline seals SUCK so i swapped to braided stainless. kinda matches the knurling all over everything else

          Thanks for the interest!

Have you tried flipping the feed around? So it hangs over the barrel?
