    Sniper on 12 grams

Help me set this thing up.
    99 body
I've got a cp reg, and a stock wgp reg if i need.
New ACP gold valve, and what looks to be a palmers valve. New from ACP stock springs.
unopened madman spring kit if i need.
what combo should I use and about how much pressure on the reg? I've got a gauge on the vasa.
    Any input is appreciated

    UPDATE - 9-30 testing
wgp hpr reg, fresh rebuild. Guessed at base setting
ACP gold valve and their "stock" spring combo

330 psi, IVG flush, 300 fps. 24 consistent shots, 25 dropped off and empty.

Adjusted the hpr 1/4 turn ccw.
    400 psi. 290 fps flush
34 consistent shots, dropping off to 38 shots then empty.

    UPDATE 10-2 tried the following:

Guessed at adjusting wgp hpr. 325 psi, madman blue hammer spring, still acp gold valve spring, ivg about a half turn in, 35 consistent shots at 275 no farting. I just could not stay consistently under field speed with the acp gold hammer spring. I could try again and turn the hpr down even more.

FOOTNOTES: my cp reg did not like co2. It would vary wildly on 12 grams.
the wgp hpr seems to be rock solid, consistent fps as well.
the internals seem incredibly good, I don't see how you could make a better regulator. Only downside is adjustment, but with an inception macro fitting that has the oring seal, taking it off to adjust is easy.

I am very curious in tuning further. I will update if I can find a more efficient setup, that keeps the tight consistency I have now.
I also have an interest in making an unregulated setup, but I think so that I need to seek out a very early sniper with sheridan internals like and old pgp.

That’s nice setup. I’m sure the wizards will be in soon.

The WGP regulator is probably a better option with CO2. Either valve is going to work fine, I'd probably go with the Palmers valve if it were mine. Someone else can chime in on the spring choice as I'm not too familiar with the options you have.
I'd first set the IVG two turns in, and sweet spot the Regulator on Air with a tank Regulator set around 800psi. Once you have that set, dial the IVG in 1-2 turns in and see what it does on a 12ie.

Ok , let me start with the fact that co2 is rough on seals and is a changing pressure gas with temperature. I personally run a cp reg now and cannot comment on the wgp but im sure it would work. I run valves without some sort of rubber seal,as i see it as a failure point due to the freezing temp of co2. Set the regulator first as Chuck mentioned above with air till you reach the guns highest velocity, and it starts to go the other way. . You will need a chronograph for this step.attain field velocity by the ivg after this. That should be enough to get you started. The 99 should have less internal area for the gas to expand ,which is key in trying to control expansion for more shots per 12ie. Love the gun, color scheme is sweet. Good luck, and welcome to stock class, the best class.

I've heard bad things about running the CP regs, but stock WGP regs are fine.

Edit: I tried my best to revive the 12ie thread after the hack. Here's what we got: https://mcarterbrown.com/forum/paint...co2-discussion

I like the gold valve run the stock gold valve springs set the WGP to 300psi 2 turns in on the IVG should get you close. Then Sweet spot it on bulk co2 or a 800-850psi HPA tank.

Gold ACP is basically a replica CCM lower. WGP should handle CO2 better. If you use the Palmers valve use the ACP gold springs they are well balanced and on the lighter side.

My favorite stock class setup is all original CCM setup for HPA with a lever changer replacing the HPA bottle. I tune for 280fps for extra shots and consistency. I get 30-32 consistent shots 65*F+. I did change out my CCM fittings for a braided line because they are finicky with the on and off pressure of 12g play. My best shooting Stock Class sniper is a stock CCM with a stick feed.

I have tried just about every combination of springs and hammer weights. You can definitely get better numbers by going heavy balanced spring combo, But I find consistency drops off so for me I like a good balanced setup on light -medium spring combo.

                  OK HERES SOME TESTING.
wgp hpr reg, fresh rebuild.

I don't have HPA to test so I'm burning 12 grams, no biggy. But what should I do next?
                  Go higher pressure?
Put a different hammer spring spring in? Which madman spring is lighter than the "stock" wgp spring.

Thanks for holding my hand through this.

34 consistent shots at 290fps sounds very functional. I would be very happy with that. You could probably just back off the HPR a lil till it hits like 280 and get a few extra shots. But honestly if it’s shooting good without venting at the higher input pressure send it. I don’t think there is much to gain by going lighter than the ACP gold springs. I think the combo you have will work perfectly with both HPA and 12g pressure sources.

My local fields are 275 fps, and my ivg is all the way out. I need to turn it down some. Should I try a madman blue spring? Or turn the regulator up a bit more?

Reg down slightly. 400psi is on the high side. Put the IVG in a lil 1/2 turn and lower reg pressure to your field speed. You will get alot of shots at 275fps. Fine adjustments at the IVG but you’re going to want some room to adjust for temp swings. Don’t do give yourself some adjustment at the IVG.

34 is great, congrats. I second chuckie on final adjustment. I usually am in the 320-340 psi on the regulator range on mine. Allowing time between shots will yield more off the 12ie also, allowimg the has to warm and expand. This isn’t always pracrical in play but something to keep in mind when testing. Good luck out there and maybe one day i will see that nice beauty.
