Never a gun labeled Viper made in brass, all thin wall stainless steel

Only time you would see any brass was on Intimidators and RTP Customs

Although I did see a brass AutoViper once

Oh ok that makes sense the stainless is harder so it can be made with thinner material while still staying strong and you get a lighter setup,

Plus the Delrin is self lubricating so no oil, the only thing you would do was drop 2-3 drops of oil into the air intake occasionally to keep everything smooth

The hammer blocks were titanium as well

I’ll have to dig around to find all my old parts, haven’t played ball in at least 15 years
everything has been packed up for a long time
now I have a 14 year old kid and it’s my duty to turn her on to PB
gotta show her what her old man can still do, I love painting goggles

The rifle belongs to one of my teammates, Chesko

As far as I know that’s the way the gun was built by RTP
The paint was added later to accent the carvings

The other gun marked “one shot one kill” belongs to another one of my teammates, Hydorn

Between the five of us we had at least 15 different RTP creations
no two were the same, everything he did was one of a kind custom stuff

I just spoke to my guys, and the true story is, Chesko carved and painted the stock not Rick
Like I said before, a lot of these memories are fading……

Also I’ll point out the rifle is all brass probably a factory barrel, but a rare RTP Custom for sure

It is the one rifle that was on the field during most of our Tournament games
          A sweet shooter indeed
Went up against many autocockers, automags, and angels with good results

Toward the end of the second RTP shop—when Rick resurfaced and was working out of the bike shop on El Cajon Boulevard—he started assembling various “mix-and-match” guns from whatever parts he could get his hands on. Among them were two particularly rare models, one of which he was unwilling to sell. The first was the “Rose Viper,” which I recall was mostly brass and featured a stock fashioned from a piece of hardwood he once pulled out of a fire pit. The second was the “Micartar,” made entirely of stainless steel and featuring a stock carved from a large piece of micarta—Rick created it while working at Buck’s Knife in El Cajon.

I’m not sure what became of the other unfinished projects Rick had, but I still have the Micartar. It was eventually converted to run on compressed air instead of CO2, especially once most fields stopped offering CO2 service. The Micartar is now powered by compressed air and uses a rotating, spring-fed configuration that holds 60 paintballs.
