Plus the Delrin is self lubricating so no oil, the only thing you would do was drop 2-3 drops of oil into the air intake occasionally to keep everything smooth
I’ll have to dig around to find all my old parts, haven’t played ball in at least 15 years
everything has been packed up for a long time
now I have a 14 year old kid and it’s my duty to turn her on to PB
gotta show her what her old man can still do, I love painting goggles
I just spoke to my guys, and the true story is, Chesko carved and painted the stock not Rick
Like I said before, a lot of these memories are fading……
Also I’ll point out the rifle is all brass probably a factory barrel, but a rare RTP Custom for sure
It is the one rifle that was on the field during most of our Tournament games
A sweet shooter indeed
Went up against many autocockers, automags, and angels with good results
Toward the end of the second RTP shop—when Rick resurfaced and was working out of the bike shop on El Cajon Boulevard—he started assembling various “mix-and-match” guns from whatever parts he could get his hands on. Among them were two particularly rare models, one of which he was unwilling to sell. The first was the “Rose Viper,” which I recall was mostly brass and featured a stock fashioned from a piece of hardwood he once pulled out of a fire pit. The second was the “Micartar,” made entirely of stainless steel and featuring a stock carved from a large piece of micarta—Rick created it while working at Buck’s Knife in El Cajon.
I’m not sure what became of the other unfinished projects Rick had, but I still have the Micartar. It was eventually converted to run on compressed air instead of CO2, especially once most fields stopped offering CO2 service. The Micartar is now powered by compressed air and uses a rotating, spring-fed configuration that holds 60 paintballs.
I remember the “Rose Viper”
It was a thing of beauty
In my memory I believe it was all Brass
Please post a picture of the “Micartar” and the loader
Thanks PK5
Holy Crap!
I’ve played against that gun back in the day
If you ever want to sell that Dan let me know
I’m the guy that is gonna pick up Renicks Viper and I’m looking for more
We had an AutoViper in our team stable at one time but it was not perfect
This gun of yours was amazing on the field
What a beauty👍
Thank you SO MUCH for this info!!! My father snagged this for me at an estate sale in FL years ago. I thought it was cool then noticed the RTP on the sight rail, couldn't find any info until now. Not sure if/where this stands in the timeline. It airs up and shoots just fine (after a few Orings).

It looks to me like you may have one of the OG mods. Rick told me that he started out by cutting off the top feed tube and soldering the ball drop onto Sheridan's. The sight rail proves it's his work.
Yeah, I'm not sure what the deal with it is. I had no info on RTP customs before I was able to find this thread. Hence the post. So, my hope was to get some help from an expert like Team Caution. I was guessing it was an in-house mod that RTP did. Again, didn't/don't have any info on this one specifically.
Very cool!
Looks like a modified Sheridan but it has the RTP stamp on the sight rail so Rick may have done some internal mods as well
It’s hard for me to see the bolt but I think he may have changed out the bolt, it doesn’t look like a stock Sheridan bolt
It’s not a Viper or an Intimidator but it’s still a cool old pump gun and you can play some good paintball with that
If you ever want to sell it let me know, I’m trying to get my hands on anything RTP worked on
Do yourself a favor and get some Mothers mag polish or some rubbing compound and shine that baby up
Sand the hand grips down and wipe them with linseed oil, while you have the handgrips off take the black lower trigger body off of the lower tube so you can really polish the entire tube and then spray paint the trigger assembly with black spray paint and that thing will look like a million bucks!
I’m just guessing here from the picture but I think that may have originally been a 12 gram
Looks like custom sight rail possibly a custom ball drop, pretty sure custom bolt, looks like aluminum?
The rear bottle mount and air tubing is probably custom and who knows about the internals
I’d love to tear that thing down
So cool. Can I post these on paintball history.com eventually? And do you have names for the players in the photo?
Top row left to right?
Bottom row left to right?
I only know a few of their first names with the exception of Rick. I don't have a problem with you posting it for historical purposes. I'll find out if I can get more information.
