Does anyone have any pictures or advice about springfeed modifications?

I'm thinking about doing a springfeed modification to my KP2. Does anyone have any advice or pictures they can share of the components, especially the follower? I'm leaning towards going with a string-based retraction system, at least for now.

Check out the pictures here, sounds like it might be useful.

Have you used a spring feed before on a KP?

Also you may need a new feed plug that acts more as a ramp instead of the standard sheridan plug.

This one was done by BretG, i would guess the follower and feed was custom piece. Not detailed puctures but could help

This is cool with the dual springs. I woulda never thoughtto do it that way.

I haven't, but I had the springfeed on my Empire Trracer for a while and adapted a RAP4 Firestorm to fit an Ion and MG100.

          I figured as much.
What are people making those from? I was planning on using a 3/4 dowel and turning it down a bit to make the plug and follower from wood.

Wood works, I personally 3D print mine.

Make sure you have kick ass detent ... otherwise the spring will push the entire stack into the barrel the instant you pull the pump ...

I have a spring feed on my Squallicane, 2x KP2, and KL and have removed it from the KPs and KL. For semi auto it is necessary but with smaller paint, I really don't like the spring feeds anymore. On one of my KPs, I used the string method but didn't like the spring hanging off the gun all the time. Its very simple to make and you don't need to do any modification to the brass.

For angled, feed plugs, you could make your own or buy a palmers: https://palmerspursuit.com/products/...270e8cdd&_ss=r

I cheated. I had a pt extreme feed laying around so i stole the follower and spring. I am proud of my slot done with a dremel. Click image for larger version

I'm still thinking about doing this with my KP2.
Those of you who have cut the slot yourself- what are the tricks?
With Palmers and Walz no longer taking work, who would be the go-to for this sort of job?

If you need the slot milled, I can help with that. Just shoot me a PM if you can't find anyone else to do the work.

Your best bet is to scribe a line, use a center punch to make several places to drill several holes with a size under what your slot will be. Then connect the dots with a dremel cutting disc. Clean with files after to remove all burrs.

Or send it to me, I can also make a feed adapter

I just drew a line & followed it with a cut-off wheel on mine, no drilling *shrugs*

Me too, but the holes make it easier to draw the line, especially for the less experienced

I use a small piece of angle aluminum as a straight edge - the angle "self centers" on the tube - and I scribe two lines so I have cutting guides. Then I slowly "trace" each line with a Dremel and cutoff wheel - the trace helps guide the cutoff wheel as you cut deeper on consecutive passes.

Pro-tip - cut a narrower slot than you need, that way you can clean up the slot you cut without going too wide.
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

We just did 2 builds with spring feeds. Not a fan myself. You loose a few rounds in the process. As stated before the ball detents are critical. Good luck with your endeavor.
