    Newbie with a Sheridan K-Series / Problem

Hi Everyone - first post here so apologies in advance if I'm violating any forum-specific conventions.

I'm newly in possession of a Sheridan K-Series. It's in great shape...except for one little thing. As you can see in the pictures - when I put a 12oz in, the cap will not screw in all the way. If I pull the trigger, it will still pierce the 12oz, but as you might expect that immediately leads to a dumping of all the CO2 in the 12oz. (Note: I have a bunch of Sheridan products, but all Blue Streaks or HBs, so this CO2 and paintball marker thing is a completely new field for me.)

The threads aren't buggered up, so long as there's no CO2 capsule in there...the cap closes up just fine.

My guess is that something is assembled improperly.

(There should be a chorus of "oh, wow, hey...look at the newbie genius with the Sherlock Holmes intuition!)

Before I take it apart (no manuals yet) I want to ask the experts what they think.

    Any ideas?

What should I look for? Anyone have a .pdf of a K-Series (I think this is a KP-3?) manual to help out with?

    Thanks!

With a 12gram inserted it won't thread all the way in. It gives you some room for variance in cartridge length.

If it's dumping out of the lower tube my guess would be the face seal on piercing assembly, which would have to remove the lower tube to replace.

Might as well do a full rebuild while you're in there (IMO at least).

Likely a face seal, handy it spot on. You need a valve tool to get the valve assy out.

All above are correct. As stated, while in there, do the o-rings. If you have a bore scope, look down the 12 gram, many times you can see the deterioration of the face seal, if this has not been aired in a long time. I received one that the seal was crumbling apart. Another that it was barely there.

Didnt saw your post before i responded to your PM, but all teh same info there ...
While youre taking it apart, it might be teh opportunity to replace all the seals 9if one is dead, the others are not far behind ...)

Definitely check piercing seal and valve orings. Also worth mentioning, the cartridge will vent if the valve retaining nut is screwed in backwards.
