    KP3 knowledge help

The brass bug finally bit me....I have been hoping to pick up a KP2 but couldn't pass up a KP3 off the bay. I'm sure on the old MCB I'd be able to read through pages and pages of knowledge whilst gazing out the window waiting for it to arrive. But since I can't, I guess I'll get this going in the hope for helpful tidbits for myself an others...
I have pgp's, and I assume they work off the same idea with minor differences, but others may not know and I am by no means an expert.
-Pro's and con's would be helpful
-Maybe some tech tips to keep it running smooth?
-Possible ways to make it more stock class without major modding?
Anything else I may have forget.
    Thanks for any help!!

Congrats on your new brass, they are so much fun to play with!

    1) whatever you do to keep your PGP going, do the same:
    - fresh o-rings, oil and new seal
    - use it!

    2) there isnt much tuning to do ... change/shim the spring is the only thing you can do without mod.
    You can make an RVA
    You can make wedgeits
    You can put a detent
    You can enlarge the valve
You can enlarge the transfer port
    ...

FYI: they use the same valve and orings, but the hammer spring is much longer than on the PGP.

    3)
As to make it more "stock classy", the best way is to add a spring-feed adapter or a cram'n'jam adapter ...
Otherwise you will have to do lots of soldering ...

Are you thinking of a clean restoration or more heavy mods?
Let me know if you need o-rings ...

Thanks for the info XEMON! It looked in decent condition in the pics...but I'll know better when I get it. I'm not thinking any heavy mods, probably just the RVA, wedgits or a detent and a way to run it off twelvies or air

From memory, the KP3 have constant air adapter for the ASA. If you get a front plug you should be able to run it from 12g

Could you elaborate on this? I'm not entirely sure how to go about that?

I've always been looking around at older sheridan kp makers, I just have one question, how hard is it to mount them into a stock, I know on the manuals they are screwed on but I just want to check

They are just held into the stock by the one screw.

If they have the post grip, you'll need a new trigger group ...

The constant air adapter is basically a dummy 12g with a 1/8npt port on the front and a nut with the plug threads and a hole through it for the hose to come out.

I don't have a KP3 to check, but I have a constant air adapter I can show on a PGP (same concept).

I believe I follow. What I wanted to do was take out the bottle feed on it and be able to drop a 12g in. Theres a long tube that goes down to the face seal on the valve. I haven't taken it apart to rebuild the valve yet so I don't know if I could make a spacer to accommodate dropping a 12g down instead of the tube. Pics below are what I'm looking at. My 1st one so I'm learning as I go. Click image for larger version

                This is a 12g plug

Now the one in that post is for a PMI-1, I don't remember off the top of my head how long the KP3 plug is but I can check on that.
To make the PMI-1 work you would probably need to change out the stem between the screw plug and the 12g cup.

Mad a member from the old board, I think he is still around made some replacement stems for the 12g plugs several years ago, I am sure they are all gone but the lengths were listed for each type of sheridan marker. Maybe I can find it on wayback.
                Are we there yet?
