    PMI II

Just picked up a PMI II. My plan is to make something cool with it. so much Inspiration from here, Would certainly like to make a freak insert barrel, and polish the heck out of it, maybe put it into a KP-2 style custom stock.

Does anyone have a source for Brass tubing in canada? online metals shipping isn't cheap for the few pieces ill need. Also any thoughts, input/ opinions on the build appreciated, you guys make some amazing stuff!

I get most of the brass I use from Amazon. Occasionally I need to buy from onlinemetals.com but not if I can help it, shipping is nuts.

For a barrel tip, yeah... but it's too big bore to use as a barrel, 18mm is .708.

I'd been using the .692 tube from onlinemetals.com combined with the 21mm tubing from Amazon, but now that I'm out of that I've used a combo of stock Sheridan barrel tube and the 21mm/19mm tube to make my Freak setups.

The shipping rates even went up here. Its almost $40 shipping for anything longer than a foot

I have ammo tube for sale, but am stateside so shipping would suck. for putting it in wood there's 2 methods, walz's way and traditional c/k series trigger groups, I use the latter

Melted the solder off the feedneck, looks like they unfortunately gouged the receiver with a grinder when they modified the original feed tube. Also fashioned a Valve tool from a 1/2" bolt, worked great!

Got it De soldered and the 5'' freak tube is made from the OG feed tube, just waiting on a brass 21mm ID tube to sheath the back 3/4 of the top tube. Also debating Drilling and taping out the OG hardline for a Macroline fitting.

Very nice! Are you going to do anything with the transfer port between the top and bottom tubes?

I would probably recommend regular plumbing solder without any silver content if you haven't done a lot of soldering, silver solder can be tricky to flow properly without the right heat and "technique".

Same idea, just a different application. I recommend using flux, too... makes it easier to get solder where it needs to go.

Used a 20mm ID brass tube to sleeve the Stock upper tube rear and new freak insert sleeve, both were sanded down from 20.5mm OD to fit perfectly inside the 20mmID sleeve. upsized the Valve through the bolt tube to 7/32'' ID/1/4" OD. Have to fashion a set screw to hold the friction fit barrel into the top tube, which also holds the freak insert inplace,

Have to spend some time practicing soldering before I solder it up, but so far so good IMO.

Got it soldered back together, Used a small chunk of 7/32 drill bit cut off to align the valve tube perfectly while soldering popped right out inside afterwards, Used Silver bearing plumbing solder Mapp Gas and alot of Flux, went better than expected IMO. 5" freak insert tube is soldered in via small drill holes on bottom of tube hidden in seam. Have to figure out how id like to hold in the Friction barrel, maybe with a set screw/thumb screw. also drilled and tapped the Air into the valve to a modern 1/8 NPT fitting, and turbo'd the valve body, and the entire valve to bolt tube through the bolt is upsized to 7/32 ID. Should breath good...

I'm thinking I want to do a removable stock class feedneck perhaps phantom style with a brass tube. so I can either hand feed First strikes or via 10round tubes. sort of figuring the build out as i go here.

Take lots of time with the 220, make sure all deeper scratches and gouges are gone. If you miss scratches on the lower grits, you wont ever get rid of them with the higher grit. I like to step up from 220 to 320, then 400, 600, 800, and 1000. I usually go up 2500, then I buff out the remaining scratches.

Yup, Had to stop yesterday and get some fresh sandpaper and finer grits. going to hit it good with 220 again and work my way up through finer grits

Decided to Fashion a Cram and jam, Spent alot of time sanding/tapering the IDto friction fit a 10 round tube perfecty, It also fits a old spyder 45 feed plug at the end to help direct balls. polished the internals with 0000 steel wool and then a rag on a stick with metal polish, as well as the Speed demon bolt, Silky Smooth... atm the OAL is 16 3/4'', the barrel is just shy of 13" oal. 5'' of it being a freak insert, the remaining 8" are 18mm ID tube.

Would like to hear your thoughts on what i should do for barrel length. and should I sleeve the portion of the barrel extending from the top tube.

Steel braided line is temporary, waiting on some macroline and fittings, Just wanted to air it up, man it is loud haha, going to try porting the barrel, Blued some steel parts with a torch and soup can of used oil, worked great. Also had to manufacture a longer bolt to hammer pin as min wouldn't engage enough. I poor man machined( 5/16 bolt in a drill and sandpaper) a new one 1.5mm longer and it worked out great.

Nicely done ✔ I like the different diameter of the barrel front gives it a kinda stream line look.
