I would, they work great. Not only is the brass attractive, them being Allen headed makes them a lot easier to put in and take out. I may drill a hole in the trigger guard to make the front one even easier to get at, not sure yet.

I bet that thing shoots great. Love that custom bolt such a great idea. Not sure if it’s more work modifying the bolt or moving the breach forward. But Creeper Customs moved my breach forward to accept a KP length Speed Demon bolt. It’s a good amount of work and requires removing and soldering lots of pieces.

Yours would be universal for any PGP I really like that idea. Is it center fire or just locking? Do you have a picture of the end of that bolt?

The bolt has a standard PGP rim-fire front end. It looks like all the airsmith did to mod it was drill the back end of the PGP bolt out to accept Speed Demon internals. I don't have a good shot of the bolt face currently, but if I end up taking it apart again (which I may, not sure if the O-ring I threw in there will be sturdy enough to combat bolt bounce) I will be sure to take lots of pics and upload them here.

And yeah it shoots really good. The pump stroke in particular is pretty smooth for a Sheridan, and I get a nice human head sized group at 50 feet even with the crappy ancient paint I've been shooting.

Ok so it’s still using the PGP bolt face, that’s the difference in the mod. I wonder if it’s possible to mod a Speed demon down to PGP spec and pick up the Centerfire capability. I feel like it will throw off what’s the ball detents lock up though looking at it.

Something to consider in the name of ultimate performance. There is a member selling General Joes bolts they are center fire. You likely won’t get another chance at getting one. But he’s been posting them on eBay and got a bunch of NOS bolts. If you can snag one they really help with brittle paint due to being center fire.

This afternoon the cops finally went looking for somewhere else to hunt for speeders so I was able to get out for a shooting test. And it was successful!

With the lighter hammer spring installed and after fiddling with the RVA a little bit, I was able to get two and a half tubes downrange at what felt like a decent velocity. Again I don't have a chrono so I'm forced to go off of vibes here, but each shot felt consistent from the first to the last. Shot number 26 was noticeably slower, and shot number 27 flew 10 feet out of the barrel with a burp and rolled to a stop in the grass. I'm sure there's room for improvement, but this result is way better than three super-hard shots out of the gate followed by a steady (and obvious) per-shot drop. Also, the bolt is no longer bouncing so that's good. I will probably keep tuning (especially if I can find a chrono for not too much money) but its nice to have this thing click-clack-BLOOPing properly now.

Next on the agenda is some sort of anti-rollout solution for today's tiny paint. I don't want to have it torched apart and drilled for inserts because I'm fairly sure that process would wreck the patina, and Wedgits seem like a permanent solution to a constantly changing problem.

For now I will likely do some "nail polish" style detents until I can figure on something more permanent. Autococker detents maybe? We'll see.

I tried nailpolish and wedgits on my brass and eventually gave in and did the Freak mod. I've never regretted that, it's made my brass markers sooooo much more playable, including my Hurricane that ended up with a custom body I made in order to Freak it.

Do you know if there is a way to torch the gun body apart without wrecking the patina? I do own a set of Nova inserts and do like the idea of using them with my PGP, but I also like the idea of keeping the finish its built up over 30+ years.

CCM detent covers work great for adding finger detents.

Also these are the General Joes bolts I was talking about. They are PGP spec have breach orings and convert a PGP to center fire. They make a big difference in paint handling and feel. They slightly increase pump stroke length by about 1/2”.
