    First Strike Roscoe Revisited?

So when the Roscoe first came out, people were having issues with paint breakage and low velocity stock. Now they have been out for a while (and possibly discontinued) I'm hoping to get some more definitive answers to some questions I have about the Roscoe.

    1. What is the stock velocity? From what I remember the Roscoe originally came with a valve shooting low 200s and the only way to get usable velocity was to get the high velocity valve upgrade. Later on I saw it came with a spare valve part which was apparently meant to bump up the velocity to 280. Most websites list the stock velocity as 280 and I'm not sure that it comes with the spare valve part any more so that might be installed from factory now.

    2. What is the high impact valve velocity?

    3. Were the paint breakage issues solved? From what I understood the consensus was that .50 FSR and USP (plastic shell powder ball) was what ran best (even then not perfect) and paintballs just broke. Is this still the case? Also I've heard about rounds falling out of the cylinders?

    4. Has anyone tried using this with the remote line adapter on HPA? What was the velocity like?

    1. I might be able to figure this out for you this weekend

    2. Refer to #1, I'm fairly sure I have both valves but it's been a hot minute since I opened it up

    3. As far as I've seen there was really only one person here reporting lots of paint breakage. I've not put a lot of paint through mine but I haven't broken a ball yet. The paint I have is absolute crap. Low end of the low end stuff that came with the shooting range markers I got which were covered in paint internally so I imagine it's not the toughest stuff either. Cylinders hold the paint fairly well in my case

I managed to get my hands on a second barrel that I plan to hone out if it turns out the stock barrel is too tight.

    4. No

Any chance you'd be able to tell me what the threads on the CO2 knob are also?

No. But they are too small to fit a co2 through if that's what you are thinking.

I would like to redo the whole co2 setup so I can load through the bottom like an integrated bucket changer but the frame isn't thick enough side to side. I would have to have the bottom of the frame disconnected from the front to the back

          Testing results

          Stock valve
          Cylinder 1
          Low 218
          High 250
          One barrel break

          Cylinder 2
          Low 156
          High 246

That low was one of the last shots so I'm not sure if the 12g was getting low.

          "High impact valve"
          Cylinder 1
          Low.... 146
          High..... 158

          Yeah something is off here

          Cylinder 2
          Low 178
          High 217

I need to do some investigating. Clearly something is wrong with my high valve

I will say, it was very inconsistent but I'm pretty sure that's all my paint. I could feel the difference between each round when I was loading them into the cylinders. Some were stiff some were loose

I also put some paint into the spare barrel I have to test how it passes through. Out of the 6 balls I put in, I blew out 5 by mouth, 1 needed a swab to push it through. So for the crap paint I have it's a little tight but nothing crazy.

My plan is it ever is a problem is to put half a 50cal swab in my drill press, get it wet and use baking soda to basically do a fine hone on my spare barrel to hopefully take off 2 or 3 thousandths

I was wondering if the threads were BSP so I could put an empty 12g and a BSP nipple with an oring instead of buying the remote adapter.

I went to the local store today with fairly interested in buying one. I asked the manager about the velocity and he said something to the effect of "Not sure but it shreds regular paint". They have them pretty heavily discounted right now so I don't know if that's the reason. I'm going to hold off until I hear from you on the velocity issue.

Here's the inside of the valve in case anyone was wondering. Pretty trick little design

The face that's down is towards the rear, spring is towards the cylinders

And for my velocity stuff. What's the MCB motto again?

                "Hookers and blow!"

                No no, the other one

"If it works you can still make it better"

Yeah something like that, check this out, looks like the valve spring is the same diameter as a cocker main spring.

AND, changing the springs is easy. Degas, cock hammer back, use a screwdriver to remove the whole rear section of the valve. Just make sure parts don't go flying.

Once I get the velocity in a ballpark, I'm also going to try unscrewing the valve face a little and seeing if it will act as a velocity adjustor.

                  Ok let's see,

Left, stock "high impact" spring (160ish fps)
Middle, trbo mod mk1 (220ish fps)
                  Right. Trbo mod mk2

Mk 2 gave me really mixed results. The first two shots were 240 range but then it dropped off pretty quick to the 180 range

Unfortunately I'm out of time for today so no definitive results

What's the difference between the stock valve and the high impact? The spring or the valve porting?

Good question. I'll try to nail that down next time

Well, took both valves apart side by side and for the life of me I can not see any difference. Measured some stuff with my micrometer, didn't find anything.

I'm really wondering if I got shipped a low velocity valve by mistake. The only thing I can think of that might be different that I can't measure is the air passage holes in the valve face. A pretty small difference to each one could make a decent velocity difference.

These are super cool pistols, wish they were .68cal and shot better but I like em.

Update on my situation, talked to someone who is involved with FS and he is sending me a new "spring" I'm assuming valve spring but he didn't actually say

These are Roscoe Valves that I have. The far left is a Gen1 low impact valve. Middle is another low impact . Not sure if is a swap out or a Gen2 low impact. The far right is a high impact valve, fresh out of the package.
