    SP-8

Here's the thread that nobody asked for.

All the recent threads reminded me of some crap I have sitting in boxes. So maybe I'll just smash it all together and make it work.

SP-8, mech kit, Qloader, Freak with Apex 2 tip.

Just a whole bunch of gimmicks? Or could I potentially make a marker that can keep up in today's scene

Other than qloaders being a bit of a pain to load, and you can't run super soft paint... I'd say go for it.

I got the loading down pretty good. I use an Eggy and a short piece of tube. I have a few pods, so one might get cut down for science.

Ha yes, the SP-8. Bought one in 2007, but when the SP-1 came out a year after I didn't really use it that much. It looked cool back then, but the hopper would stand really tall next to the body and break it's silhouette. Plus the plastic around the feedneck would crack all the time, and you had to unscrew both shell halves to just access the firing engine. Still, I ran mine with a Black Heart board, a TechT L7 bolt and a Freak barrel so it was accurate, super easy on paint and very quiet. Good times!

Yeah, notice mine now has a brass feedneck. The whole body is cracked and glued right there. This one being a mech, hopefully I don't have to take it apart too much, just oil through the asa since there's no noid to kill now.

As for if it can keep up with modern stuff I'm going to say not really. This will largely depend on the mechanical kit you have in it but there's a lot of other factors as well the sheer size of it just makes it a little harder to maneuver plastic shelves are more of a pain to work with doing general maintenance very user friendly

I'm not saying it can't work at all but if you're comparing it to modern stuff the modern stuff still has the advantage in most areas

I shimmed up the magwell and added a mag catch today. Now that its where it needs to be, I can start working on mounting all the internal components and mill the breech out.

Did you use a DAM magwell or mod the existing SP8 body for the DMags?
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

I cut the reg mount and everything out of the stock magwell. Its set up for Dmags, they seem to have the smallest profile. I think a Dam / CF-20 mag would fit, and M17 mags would be the tightest fit. I have all 3 on hand, the Dmags just fit the magwell with the most room, which helped with the catch. You would have yo get really creative with the other mags, as they really fill up that magwell. I'll take better pictures of everything after its working.

Its a tight fit, but I think it's going to work. I have to get creative with the rear section of the body, as the reg sits where the old pin used to hold the stock on. Overall, taking this apart will be about the same difficulty as it was before. Good thing it will be mech and I shouldn't have to take it apart very often. If I had a Mini reg, I could have probably avoided most of this work.

Plumbing wasnt really too bad. Now I just need to clearance the other half of the body shell. Then I need to mill the breech. It's getting close now.

Dont mind the ugly putty. I'm attempting to gain a little bit of strength. This body was so bad when I got it, I'll likely replace it when I get another.

Man that's so sick. I've been wondering when someone would finally do it.

Very clean work getting the DAM mags on there, too.

Dmags, not DAM. Slight size difference made me go with the Dmag/helix magazines.

Are you just cutting a hole so you can adjust velocity?

Trbo323 I made the rear section of stock removable, and its a Dye Hyper 2 so the adjuster is right there facing out.

Its still big, plastic, and cumbersome, but overall its better without a hopper or qloader strapped onto it. Overall its about the same work to dissasemble it (still a PITA), and to get this barrel off I have to jam an allen wrench into the slots and twist it, but overall I think this thing is going to be fun to bring to a local magfed meet-up. The only piece I need to buy for this is to run a remote line, everything else was on the shelf. The magazines were donated by Jonnydread (thanks again!) and I think I payed $25 for the Sp-8 and $50 for the mech parts.
