Spyder 2 tab feedneck to Sterling STP

I took a Rap4 Spyder 2-tab feedneck and turned off the tabs.

It was already 22mm diameter, so it was a perfect swap.

I used a die grinder to notch the tube for the clamping screw, and now my Sterling has a clamping neck!

glad guys are finding solutions to the feednecks. I was hoping to make some adapters, but I haven't had one come across my bench to measure yet.

Cool to see this. I forget everyone doesn't just print a loader to fit the feedneck. The feedneck rail makes sterlings pretty versatile.

          Well done!
I guess you need a lathe to do it nicely?

Or files and a steady hand? But yes, the lathe helps.

There's an easier way..... I did this mod years ago on my Sterling using an Ion clamping feed neck, the only thing you need to do to it is grind the notch out where the retaining screw goes, you can leave the threads of the feed neck alone and it just pops right in. While it works with the Spyder feedneck you have to mill off the tabs first and grind out the notch which not everyone has the ability to remove the tabs properly

Good to know - I might have a nicer Ion neck kicking around, too.

You see the ones BMC made for Hellion? Empire stub fits so clean with the Inception Clamp.

Nice, very clean. That adapter disappears!

Yeah it sits nice and flush when installed you don’t even see it. Probably a more expensive option I’m sure then your solution but it sits nice and low without any feed issues according to Hellion. I got one for mine like this as well. The clamping feedneck is definitely a nice lifestyle upgrade for sure. I’m surprised the Sterling didn’t catch on in the states. It’s a great marker.
