I've currently got two T9s and I've worked on several T8s. They're all basically the same.

For the T8 to T8.1 there is an upgrade kit that has a barrel, bolt, spring and mag.
For mags there are a few different types. There's an older version that came with the T8/T9s and an updated version that's have the tooless function and is shaped for first strike.

There are a couple different versions of the remote line adaptors. For the T8/T9 series I believe they are only available in the mag. There is an remote adaptor block available for a T9.1 and T8.1 that bolts onto the back fo the market I believe.

As for your gun issues, could be a reg issue or the trigger return isn't working and it's bleeding out. I often find the sear area of these guns gets really gunky and gross and these work much better once they have been cleaned. If it's helpful I can do up a teardown thread on my T9 I'm working on fixing.

I think the problem was just that it was super-gunky on the inside. I spent several minutes with a toothbrush, some alcohol, and a box of Q-tips and it's now shooting just fine.

Interesting bit about my magazines, though the two that I have which have the toolless cartridge changing definitely are not shaped for First Strikes.

I'm probably just going to use it once or twice and flip the gun, but it's a little disappointing if there truly is no way to put a rear air port on an original T8, because I was considering buying one of the ridiculous Mauser conversion kits from Sellswords.

Is there not somewhere on the back of the gun near the regulator that I couldn't drill and tap for an NPT port, as well as plug off the magwell's port?

I believe there are three different mags available for these. The first style required a tool to pierce the co2, the second version has a tooless pierce and the their one has more of a flat bottom on the mag.

There is a way to mod the back for constant air on the original T8s and SA8s. I have seen it done on the old MCB. Let me look if I can find it.....

I assume the solution would be to tap into the front/side of the regulator housing, since the input would necessarily have to be upstream of the reg.

So, if using 12 grams, then what is the point of the pressure relief valve on the Tac 8. Right? Constant air would be the problem then.

Could it be that the engineers were following the AGD design of the automag?

You hit the nail on the head. Tyler Tiberius did follow the AGD design of the automag in alot of ways but miniaturized it. When the Tac8 came out. Tyler gave an interview to SpecOps Paintball and Paintball 2Extreme magazines about the design and how it did follow the Automag design in operating principle, but he had to make some changes in order to miniaturize down to what it became.
