Help troubleshooting A-5 cocking issue

Good morning. So I'm trying to fix an old A-5, and I'm running into an issue. holds air just fine, but I can't get the hammer to catch on the sear when I attempt to cock it. I've swapped sears and hammers to no avail. Clearly I'm missing something simple. Any insight?

Did you mix up the charging handle spring and the drive spring? I've done that at least once.

I’m in the weeds of fixing an A5 as well and I’m pretty sure I’ve had this exact issue. My problem was I had the drive pin spring in incorrectly.

Make sure you have the sear pin as well. Without the pin I believe it won’t cock.

Does the hammer move back fully and not catch? Or does it just not go back far enough to catch? Try cocking it without the back cap on and see what happens.
