    ProAm Questions.

I got one of these a while back and I just started to crack into it, but I'm noticing some differences from my Prolite.

Firstly, the trigger and sear are each made of 3 pieces of stamped metal that are plied together. The sear also appears to have left some gouges in the hammer. I assume this is a factory part, since most people don't own a stamping press, and the part looks pretty well made. Even the early model in the disassembly video with Dennis Tippmann Jr. appears to have a single piece trigger and sear.

And second, there is no slot in the body for the rectangular valve stop piece, despite the manual showing there should be one.

What do you make of this? Anything else I should know about the ProAm? I read somewhere that some internal parts are not compatible with the Prolite. Is this true?

Never seen a sear like that before and it sure beating the crap out of the hammer! what is the serial # . Is this a Grey body or Black. If i remember correctly, you should be able to put a hammer and sear from a pro lite into a pro am, or put your pro lite frame on the pro am and give it a rip, only real difference is one is plastic the other cast aluminum. Springing is also different by length if i remember correctly. the springs are of a fairly heavy gauge and getting kinda scarce. as for the valve stop not sure till i look at my pro am again, been squirreled away for a bit, but could find it in storage fairly quick.

I might be wrong but I believe parts compatiblity differs from early to late pro ams. That’s to say that the latest model proam is basically a prolite while the early ones have slightly different dimensions on parts like the front bolt.
the missing valve stop spot is interesting and I’d guess this is an early model. How tall is your site/guide Rod retainer? Is it the same as a prolite or half as tall and only fits one jam nut? That’s not definitive as they can be switched but the shorty is a good indication of an early model.

It is serial number 08344 and has a grey anno. It also has a plastic "TIPPMANN PRO/AM" nameplate instead of being milled in as on early ones.

The rear sight is the same general shape as a Prolite, but with only one jam nut as you described. From my understanding the earliest models had a rear sight that was basically just a right angle with a notch cut in the rear; it didn't have the downward angled front part as pictured.

Here are some additional pictures I took of the trigger and sear when I took the frame apart for cleaning.

Ok, so on the old board, I did a thread on older pro am, it had pictures and everything. Well 4 computers latter, I no longer know where the pictures are. As I remember it serial numbers below 10k had different construction, The most notable were the valve and power tube. The valve was much longer with no valve stop and the power tube was shorter (than latter models and the pro lite model) I did not take pictures of the trigger parts but I do think I remember them as being laminated.
Now after Tippmann changed the internals, any of them sent back to the factory, would then be pro lite style internals.

someone better than I and navigating the way back machine might find it, the pictures might be intact as I uploaded them directly to the website vs using a picture service

My valve and power tube are the Prolite style. That explains why the velocity adjustment hole was drilled twice. Still odd the stop wasn't added, and the trigger and sear replaced.
