So I picked up an SL-68II recently, got it locally and bought it for the small hpa tank that it came with. The gun is pretty neat and it was super clean, basically brand new, so figured I'd hang onto it. Of course the problem with these is they don't have any detents so that makes them unusable with modern paint, and the other issue is they like to double feed because there isn't an effective detent to prevent a second ball from forcing itself into the breech if you're not pumping quickly.
For the first issue, I figured I could put a cocker detent in the body at a point where it would sit just in front of a chambered ball... the trick here is that a 'normal' cocker detent is too shallow and will not sit deep enough to get through the body and the barrel, you need to use something like an Inception style detent that has a longer body and can be 'dialed in' to the right depth. The springs on the inception detents are too soft so I had to augment with a cut spring from a ballpoint pen. The procedure was to mark the spot where I wanted the detent to sit, then insert the barrel and drill and tap through both the body and barrel. Dial in the depth so the detent is deep enough, add a bit of locktite on the end threads of the detent body so the cap stays attached, and that did the trick.
The other detent was a bit tricker, I figured it might be possible to use a standard Tippmann detent in the breech opening but had to figure out how to place it... also the velocity adjustment screw is in the way so had to position it above or below. Thankfully a friend at work is into 3d printing and we figured out a design for a bracket that would hold one or two detents in the right spot.
