    Angel 05 Speed Ram Question

Hey, if I remember correctly, the 05 Speeds are one of the unserviceable ram models, right?

    Many thanks,

    TMG

Aren't all Angel rams? I thought only aftermarket rams were serviceable

If I remember correctly, there are some rams that are much easier than others. Angel 05 speeds being near-impossible to even service. But admittedly, I am no Angel guru. I defer to the experts when it comes to Angels.

Looks like it's unserviceable I'm afraid. (Also looks like the same issue with the 03 I mentioned)

LMAO This is the most hilariously mind fucky message. You've won the internets for a day. Congratulations. So I do have a serviceable ram? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There's an 04 Speed w/ PM7/9V on Ebay for $150 what do you think?

i thought almost all, if not all, angel ram engines were un-service-able.
but they can be modified to be service-able. Takes a milling machine though, not something someone at home can do in their bedroom.

              Thanks Tarsun2

Is there anything that should look out for with the 05 Speed in particular? Are they generally reliable markers vis-a-vis older Speeds? This will be my first Speed, BTW.

              Thanks again

I have serviced LED and LCD rams. Just takes some heat and a soft jaw vice to take apart without damaging.

Some rams are crimped together which are not serviceable.

Thank you. And yes, I serviced a few LCD's many moons ago when I was an airsmith. Which is why I remember that some models are indeed serviceable, while others had to be sent to the OEM for repairs which we thought was ludacris, obviously, cause we could do everything in house. I just don't remember which models, specifically. It was a long time ago. And personally, I was not an Angel guy myself. Mostly had Cockers, Matrices, and Shocker SFTs. Thus I will defer to the Angel guys such as yourself to brush up on everything WDP/APS.

How reliable are 05 Speeds generally speaking? Anything that I should look out for? I think right off the bat, I will have to dremel a stripped front cap, but obviously that can happen with any gun, 'not particularly an 05 Speed problem.

                  Kind regards,

                  TMG

I've had 20+ Angels but never a Speed other than an virtued 03 Speed which rips. Once you learn the gun and blow it apart for new o'rings it should treat you very well. Out of the 20 some Angels I think I've only experienced 1 leaky ram - I wouldn't be concerned with that. The only thing I can think of is the wiring for the Eyes is fragile. https://angellasereyes.com/ has some awesome replacements. I put a set in my Angel GAT and they felt very well made. For boards if you ever want more firing modes you have a few options...Enoch, ZeroXTechnologies, Virtue etc. Sorry I couldn't be more knowledgeable on the specific model you're looking at but most Angels are solid. For the front cap a torx bit or easy-out should work fine.

Just remembered - the 05 is 9 volts so you don't have to deal with replacing a battery pack. That's a bonus.

Thanks for the info Roger7pball I thought the one I got was converted to 9V, but you just illuminated that for me, thank you. (I haven't gone through the manual yet).

The one I scooped up comes with a Tadao board. I looked up the manual on the Tadao site. Theres only one Tadao Speed board, so that must be it right? The manual says it's Musashi 7/ 10 BPS ...wondering if they're all flashed to M7/ 10 BPS by default? That would be neat.

I saw that, and it did sell for the $150, also a blue Speed with charger just went for $200 as well. I'm happy with the one I grabbed, though I'm looking for a board that will let me slap eyes in it. I'm not convinced the Sensi actually works properly, plus it was a buggy system when it was brand new from what I've heard.

I'm a little tempted to set up my own board based on GCode https://github.com/gricard/GCode

That would be cool. I've been chatting with Brad from ECA. According to him, the 05-06 Speeds are some of the most reliable and user-friendly Angels. The only inherent problem with Angels is the amount of parts they have, which obviously means that the chances of little things going wrong here and there is greater, (i.e. exhaust guide & valve assembly, reg seals, ram, etc.) especially after so many years, just the fact that these assemblies have a lot of little parts, means that people lose them and/or reinstall them incorrectly. I couldn't help but wonder if that is what caused the Angel used market valuations to plummet and why theyre starting to go back up slowly after more and more people are restoring their Angels. Cause after all these years, the chances of picking up an Angel that has not been restored (and converted to 9V) -- that is in full working order are slim due to the aforementioned reasons. Which obviously hurts their resale value. And hence why theyre going back up as more and more people restore them, as I mentioned. That being said, he says that the 05 Speeds are generally reliable even the eye system, he also mentions the reliability of the eye system on his tear down video of the 05 Speed. But either way-- I welcome a challenge, you know. I've mastered just about every other gun. So I welcome a change of pace.

Here's the video of the 5Speed teardown where he mentions that the eye systems tend to always work, and that the marker is generally reliable:

I have limited experience with an LCD and more recently an A1. Other than that, i dont know much about he model line up.

In my A1, i had to replace the o-rings in the ram engine. Other than that, ive had no issues.
the LCD needed a new battery, a few new connectors, reg rebuild, some repairs on the PCB board, and a few misc items. the funny this is that the ram engine was not leaking lol.
